Anyone hear that Brian Fargo, our beloved Michael Stackpole, and a bunch of OG's from way back in the day finally got funding to produce Wasteland 2? I never played the original, but I LOVE Fallout. I forget how I heard about it, but Brian got tired of getting backing the traditional way (trying to convince a publisher that it's awesome and they should fund it without their committees and marketing experts interfering with its creation) and went to
Kickstarter.com, which I hadn't heard of until I heard of this project.
They set a staggering goal of $900,000.
In 6 days, they got a total pledge of
$2,933,252.Man, this is going to be sweet! To top it off, Jordan Weisman's doing the same with a new
Shadowrun game!!
If these are successful, just
think of the possibilities for future fan-funded projects!
