Imagine it when it's been painted by Mr P Bell...

I've been doing that since seeing the photos! Bloody nice work Andy :D looking forward to seeing pics of one in the high lead content metal without the pitting, as the photos of the putty version looked lovely and smooth. I really like his bad-ass face now, that side of your sculpting has improved a lot since the last boris!

Certainly has. Much fun to be had in sculpting a face these days. Not like the old days, when it was all wailing and sobbing and swearing at eyes.

As to pitting - you should have seen the ones that got away, blimey o'reilly, it was like when the acid drops through the deck in the film Alien. The pic there isn't helped, though, by the fact that I ended up spraying him about five times. The first coat only revealed all the stuff that needed filing that I couldn't see on the original sculpt in its waxy yellow obscurity.

I'll send you a lovely lead master to paint though, which - touch wood -  should be lovely and smooth.

Sounds like a plan - not gonna be able to touch it till the end of April though... hopefully that'll be ok... Still painting my damned crystal brush entry! gah!

I like Boris's new belly plate btw - there's no way I'll be painting that one like a gem :D Seeing the comparison pic you posted on FB, I see that I actually copied Stu's original Boris in that regard ;)

Actually, it's mine - I totally forgot I had painted it to look like a gem, until I got him out of the toolbox to photograph. I thought you'd just done that on BB2. Me am fool.

How is BB3 coming along?  No casting issues I hope?  Is it the 24th yet?

His axe was annoying - as feared the silicon mould got into the details but didn't fully cure, so one side of the axe was a horrible blob. I think the rubber didn't set due to superglue in the layers of the axe. Have had to fully repair the axe and also re-do all the runes, which was a bit of a nightmare. Going to remaster it tomorrow when new moulds turn up, this time in regular black rubber. It actually looks a bit better than before as I've been able to scibor the skull using the huge silicon mould - not that that gave a very good copy, but it was enough of a one to get the size and shape about the same on both sides of the axe now.

The main body was fine, although the clay I've used hid a few things that need to be smoothed off on the master, weird lumps and what not that I would have seen if it wasn't semi-translucent, nothing that can't be sorted on the metal master prior to making the production moulds. Which should happen by the end of the week, if all goes well in my final sculpting sessions for other bits tonight.

Oooooh good stuff Andy!

What is this new clay you are using like? I've used Super Sculpey before, is it similar to that? Can you add another coloured clay to it to change the colour at all (like you can with sculpey - can even add fimo to it)

Looking forward to getting mine. Just checked my heresy account and it still says awaiting pre-order items, is that still true Andy or is it just not updated? No worries either way. (order number 1201 + order 1360 I was trying to get them combined)

I haven't been able to update order statuses in weeks, due to Salute, acccounts, lack of time, lack of enthusiasm, and lack of info from Craig on which ones he has or hasn't sent out. There's a huge pile we're still working through and it's just going to be easier to spend the 2 necessary days updating the order statuses once they're all out the door.

Boris is being a little bugger. The first few spins were fine and dandy but for the last few days nothing but pitting is going on. Spent a couple of hours yesterday morning, cast up a hundred Boris bodies; we went through them this morning and selected only 15 of the 100 that we felt were good enough to paint. It's baffling. May have to chop up the sculpt into separate torso and legs just to avoid this heat-spot build-up or whatever the problem is...

Cool. I thought that would be the case. Bit of a bugger about the pitting on Boris. I'm still looking forward to getting him though.

That sounds- politely put- fairly frustrating.
If it's of any help, I'm in no particular hurry to paint the big guy (but it was a shiny new big barbarian, so I just had to order it), so feel free to shove my order further down the line.

Beefy, I'm guessing that you will get yours by next Wednesday.  Not that what I say has any bearing on anything, or that I have any idea about anything in regards to overseas shipping.

I got mine and he's bad @$$.  I already have an idea of what to do with him.
