Where's the proof?  pics please.
I'm really keen to get started on mine. I may spray some primer on him as soon as i get home from work today (hooray for no staff meeting) I also bought a huge range of Vallejo sking tones in anticipation. Such a stunning miniature and tall to boot.

That sort of thing, in that sort of time, makes me glad I snapped all my paint brushes in half in a fit of pique ages ago.

(I know it's just a 'basic' flesh job, so far, to you, Pete, but my equivalent would be all lumpy and rough looking)

Cheers chaps :)

I attended a painting class which touched on positioning of highlights etc and am trying to put into practice what I learnt. It basically looked at imagining all the muscles as spheres and then highlighting each one... It seems to be going pretty well with Boris :D

@Andy: if you snap your brushes, does that mean that I should snap my clay shapers? Its all about time - you spend your time sculpting, I spend mine painting ;)

I've been doing this for a long time... And have had good teachers and supportive forums (like this)

So no snapping of brushes - that includes you, gi6ers, hiding at the back...!

imagining all the muscles as spheres and then highlighting each one

That is similar to how I paint muscles.  I do a base coat then treat every muscle as a separate part, highlighting each one in stages.

Yeah... I was highlighting and shading each muscle before but i didnt go for the extreme highlight next to the shadow of an adjacent muscle, so there was more blending invioved but less contrast overall. This time ive payed attention to making each muscle 'pop' with the added mind-f**** of treating the whole piece as a sphere so that the lower part of the model is darker than the top ;)
