More Zombies
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:02:41 PM »
And as I'm sure some folk would look at it, they come with a free board game... :paranoid2:

zombicide. I spotted this image <linky> and thought there might be a few people around these parts that might be quite interested in the zombie models for their horde. Of course those aren't the finished article but it might be something to keep an eye on.

Looks like they have a promotional Chuck Norris character/miniature due...  If they can keep to the artwork it'll be OK.

Bruce Lee once beat Chuck Norris in Enter the Dragon.  Look where that got him.  ;p

Hey guys if you're interested in Zombicide, it's a great game. Peter and I saw it being demoed at Adepticon. They have a project on Kickstarter, which they are using to raise money to produce the game. They needed $20,000 but it's really taken off and they have raised over $300,000.

On Kickstarter you make a pledge towards getting the project off the ground and there are lots of break points. Depending on which pledge you make, you get different rewards.  Peter and I have pledged $140 so far which gets us a copy of the game, with extra models and these special characters you have mentioned, plus a LOT more! (see list below)

Update: This is what you get at an Abomination ($100) level pledge!

Base game - 71 miniatures etc
3 Promo Survivors and their Zombie counterparts: 6 miniatures
4 additional Fatties - 4 miniatures
6 additional Runners - 6 miniatures
20 additional Walkers - 20 miniatures
1 additional Abomination - 1 miniature
6 custom black dice
6 glow in the dark dice
1 T-shirt
Total 108 miniatures!

If you love Zombies, then go have a look.  The extra models are exclusive and look great.  They have a Bruce Willis for example.

Link to the Kickstarter page is here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/zombicide - give it your support, you know you want too :)

That looks really cool. Unfortunately I have no need for more zombies. But thanks for the link. It does look awesome.

My main problem is the cost involved with a) shipping and b) customs charges.
I do hope the minis will be available seperately, as I don't really want or need the game as such.

They aren't doing the models separately as far as I know.  They are a part of the board game. You might be able to get some of the additional survivors though.

They have almost reached $400,000 and added a character from Penny Arcade to the final stretch goal :)

Good. They should be able to sell more sets of the game cheap then :D

I have my doubts with anything involving CMoN and Inka's reservations about shipping and import are shared as well, but if I saw it at a reasonable price in a toy store I'd look at it.

I've gone ahead and bought in for the Abomination level. Very excited to get my hands on it - I think it'll be a hit at board games night! ...of course, I'm lucky enough not to have to pay an extra $25 for shipping, which may have made me hesitate, too.

...but as much as I love zombies, I just couldn't allow myself to pass it up! I'll let you know how it is when I get my hands on a copy.

This game has the potential to be very good news for Hasslefree.  There appears to be a game mechanic involving characters being zombified and so their model changing from survivor to zombified survivor, so 2 versions of each character will ultimately be required.  As the game encourages people to come up with their own characters with blank character cards, I can see the Hasslefree survivor/zombie ranges receiving much love shortly.

Well it's up over $706,000 now and still climbing. Only a few hours to go.  Glad you got yourself a copy Martin.  I think it's going to be a great game to play and the special extra survivor models look excellent too.  Can't wait to get my hands on it :D

I too think it will work really very well with HF figures.  Their adventurers were positively made for it and I can see us painting up the normal and zombified versions to use in the game.

I'm in on it, those minis looked to good to pass and on the price of minis alone it was well worth a shot. And that was before the stretch goals got hit. The fact there is also a co-op game in there too that looks like it has a fair chance of being good fun means I am feeling pretty good about. I don't really understand the negativity of some of the above posts but I'm guessing there is prior experiences in there and/or living in places where delivery and taxes aren't quite as straight forward as just having the toys mailed to the uk. That said the delivery cost is a little high but if its well packaged to keep my stuff in good condition I'll forgive that.

For me it's mainly the high costs and the uncertainity of what I would actually have to pay in the end- the kickstarter money + shipping + taxes= amount X- all depending on the exchange rates on the day the parcel arrives in Germany, not on those when a payment was made/ a parcel shipped out.
If price + shipping would be higher than 150 Euro on top of taxes there's also an additional customs fee and that's not even taking into account the fees that I'd have to pay for storage at the customs office or all the hassle involved with getting things from the customs office.

@Ink - they took the money immediately, so there was no doubt certainly about the cost of the items and delivery. However, tax will be the next thing to find out.  We decided the combination of a really fun game plus the great models was worth it.  Can't wait for September now :D

I should have been a bit more precise.
Yes, they (cmon/ guillotine) took the money immediately. But what german customs charges (tax + fees) is based on what the price + postage would be in Euro on the day the whole parcel arrives in germany/ is siezed by customs office. So I'd e.g. pay the equivalent of 100 Euros today plus e.g. another 35 Euros for postage, but on the day it arrives in Germany, the parcel might well 'be worth' far more than that due to the exchange rates having changed.

There is also the odd thing of you not actually purchasing anything... you have pledged money to help production and are getting those items as a bonus - I think they will have the production cost on them rather than retail price.
