You'd need to change 'games' to 'miniatures', that way you would be able to use the quote as your own without infringing on IP :D ;)

...that and the fact that there isn't a game in the HF box...apart from Akula's game...but that doesn't count in this case...

Regarding the pilot, it all makes obvious sense to me .

Right. Let's clear this up.

Remember the male Grymn walker pilot? He's got tight trousers and a tight teeshirt. Okay? With me so far?

Remember me saying that this lady will be kitted out the same way as the male pilot?

Can you see where this is going?

Low blood sugar. Are you driving past the office on the way to your appointment today?

Ok, I think she's wearing enough t-shirt as it is.
Take a good look around and you'll notice that every community has it's rebel(s), I can't imagine the Grymn aren't affected by it so 1 rogue bad-ass polit babe fits in my opinion and the image I got in my head of 'an upset elderly officer storming over to her to tell her to dress up' fits my sence of humor, she'll have some choice reply ready for the poor old goat once his tantrum subsides a bit.
I'd change her hair tho, shaven on one side and longer on the other.
And a nosepiercing, she'd need one of those too.
I'll paint her tattoos on myself, because she's the kind of person who'd have them.
To be honest I'd date her... if I was a grymn

Can't wait to see Scooby finished up.  Power armor to "match" the other dog would be great.  Really, really want a squad of five or so Dog Soldiers....

I agree with Inso that she should dress uniformly, both to help her differ from the fantasy figure she's based on, and to fit with the rest of the range.  Maybe a little midriff though?  Due to the added bulk she's sporting upstairs, I can see the bottom of the tee being pulled up a bit.

I really like the grymn lady and will be adding her to pirate kjaran and sola who I have just ordered as the start of a post apoc gang.

If the gymn walker pilot on foot is available seperately I will also add him. Are there anymore less armoured grymn types planned? Would be nice to have some spec ops types in combats flak vests and other more stealthy mercinary type gear.

Can you see where this is going?

That's right, she'll have tight trousers and a teeshirt.

They need to wear tighter, lighter, clothing because of the confines of the cabin. I figure she could have the PDW instead of the male's pistol because, being smaller, she takes up less space and has the opportunity to pack something meaner in the chance of her suit becoming incapacitated and she has to hoof it back to friendly likes.

Quote of the year so far: "Rule 1 of using games that use imagination: You're not allowed to contradict someone else's imagination".

If I wasn't so incompetent I'd be editing that out from the original post so I can claim it as my own. It's ace :D
Second attempt, the forum went down earlier and ate my post...

Anyway, I agree that the walker pilots will have to wear less clothing, partly due to the confined cabin, but also because it's going to get hot and sweaty in there. Cold weather clothing and other survival gear is only really an issue if they have to operate alone, and could be stowed under the seat, or possibly in a small external compartment (think of the gun compartment on the escape pods at the end of Starship Troopers - although under the seat and thus protected from re-entry etc would be better for those ;)).

Also, if they're using neural jacks, then a confined cabin is less of an issue (assuming total sensory immersion rather than a hybrid jacked/manual system), because they don't have to move around as much. So, she could well have stuck the rifle in the cabin, and just held it in place with a couple of bungee straps.

Neural jacks might also affect their personality (who wouldn't if they get to feel 10 feet tall and virtually bulletproof - possibly to the point where they're about to suffer full on Cyberpsychosis and start talking to the Mr Flibble puppet attached to one of the guns, when they're retired from service and given a nice warm cup of tea containing half a gallon of sedatives), but as such, they might be allowed a greater flexibility in their dresscode, behaviour and so on.

So on that basis, can we have both the existing one, and the planned, slightly more heavily dressed version please?  :silly

Whats wrong with virtual controls I can't think of the movie at the miniute but sorta like controls on the gloves/finger tips control everything.

Its sci fi wouldn't there be aircon  :boing:

You mean the screen and gloves in Minority Report? I'd say too fragile for military-tech, and redundant with either neural jacks or even physical switches (which would presumably be there as a backup), but I guess it's for Kev to say for certain.

(Please don't go for a Legends of the Rangers-style gunnery system though.  )

As for aircon, I assume the walker is NBC sealed, so they're going to be rebreathing the same air, and even with CO2 scrubing gear, heat radiators on the back (themselves a nice IR-guidance target unless complex radiators are installed) etc - all of which adds extra cost, weight, complexity and power/endurance drain to the walker anyway, it's still going to get hot and sweaty.

Air conditioning...a carbon-dioxide-breathing bacteria that converts the heat in the air into energy, with the by product being a refrigerating effect. They are in the fabric lining that surrounds the inside of the cab.

Controls...Neural plug-in with a holographic backup. A hologram of a control stick and various interface devices is projected into the cockpit from a small emitter in the roof. The pilot uses the controls 'virtually'.

Alternatively, the Walker has an AI built in and is 'told' where to go and what to do...making it's own way of moving, firing, engaging etc.

Short of chemosynthesis (which needs some nasty chemicals and is extracting more oxygen from the air), unlikely (and even then, it's generating heat, not reducing it). Algae you might have a chance with, but you'd still need light to stimulate photosynthesis, not heat.

And anyway, aren't modern IFV's supposed to be able to stay buttoned up for at least 24-hours with multiple people on board, in the event of NBC attacks? Even that's probably going to be enough for something like this.

Plus the heat extracted from the cabin's going to be a lot less than the walker's power plant will be throwing out, so it'll need radiators to reduce the IR signature anyway. :)

If you've got neural links, holographic's pointless - you can either project onto the retina or even manipulate the optic nerve or visual cortex directly for a display, and read the motor functions for what the pilot wants to do.

It's simply me saying why a certain look can be justified (and coincidentally letting my imagination off the leash a little, it gets bored).

I was just trying to make up stuff to sound clever...in a sci-fi sort of way ! When I said bacteria I meant 'alien, super-bacteria form the nth dimension' and the holographic controls are a back-up system, should the neural link fail.

I agree...it's a toy but with sci-fi, you can always create a fairly logical argument for pretty much anything...but when push comes to shove, if people have a problem with the aesthetics then no explanation will work.
