A FoD collaboration? - hf
« on: July 03, 2011, 04:39:41 PM »
Just an idea which popped into my head as I was sitting here watching BlockBusters in case Mr Foster was on it...

What about a set of miniatures that each company puts into. Originally, I was going to suggest 'The Seasons' with the FoD having four companies, but I'm not sure if Steve is still doing the freelance thing.

This drew me to ponder, what trio could the FoD come up with - my first thought was 'The Fates'

Basically, each company does one of them - after that the sales options are up to the companies; I'm thinking each of them sells their particular one but has links for the other members of the group in their particular store...something like...

'This model is one of a set of three produced as part of a collaboration between the companies on the Forum of Doom <link>, the other members of the set can be found <link> and <link>

Not sure if it would work, but might sort of distribute sales across all three companies and spread awareness.

It doesn't have to be The Fates...just thought it might be a bit of fun to see the FoD companies working on something together...could be a good thing for Salute now I come to think of it.

Would you be thinking Norns or Furies?

I'm thinking anything where there's 3 members and the FoD companies could make some cold hard profit!

So it would be Hasslefree, Heresy, Black Scorpion...would Twilight be separate?  Now that Steve B has closed shop, would he be invited as well?

Could be Five participants...

I was only thinking of the functioning companies, but the more the merrier, I guess :)

I already posted on the Heresy post, but I like the 3 wise monkeys one!

Knowing how GW work with their in-house sculptors, I dont think we will be seeing any non-GW commercial sculpts from Steve for the foreseeable future...

I like the idea of this though and the three monkeys seems particularly appropriate :P

No, I would not be able to participate in such a project unless mine was sculpted and handed over to someone else within the next fortnight and, as you can imagine, I'm a bit busy preparing to move house. Once I'm working for GW the only miniatures I will be able to sculpt outside of work would be purely for my own amusement and I wouldn't be able to do anything with them beyond painting them. I imagine that I wouldn't be doing a lot of that anyway.

Are the Perrys contractors, have a special clause or have a handshake deal that allows them to do their own thing?

Iain.

I had heard that some GW sculptors do a few on the side miniatures every now and then under false/no names ;) Just a rumour as far as I know, though.

Entirely possible. Also entirely possible that they'll get shot for it if they're found out...

Well, yeah. I was more commenting on the shooting part, jokingly at that.
