Hi

Anyone played around with the posibility of horses in Cutlass, I know I can wait for Tombstone - but I am more interested in the effect they would have in Melee.

Well horses and Pirates usually don't mix. I would imagine trying to get a horse to stay calm on a boat in rough water is not exactly an easy task, especially with cannons firing off and the like.

I am sure Adam has plans for Horses in Tombstone though.

Well to be fair, none of the Encounters happen at see. Regardless, it isnt something I think would work that well within the rules. You'd assume they would have increased movement, which I think could make using them very difficult. The fact that everyone model must make the same action (special actions aside) means you could end up wasting activations to get your already in combat calvalry to make a combat action.

That said I suppose, were the game to expand, that would realistically be one direction it could do. Thematically though it's not for me.

A classic sceen in Pirate stories is the Pirates getting hunted by the "Spanish" Calvalry.

But that would of cause add the Spanish and posblily more than them as well

Well I certainly think the Spanish could be a decent expansion to the ransge, and as such everything that would comme with them.

As soon as I posted I did think about the Conquistadors etc. I still don't know if I would personally like to see horses added to Cutlass!, much more fitting to Tombstone methinks.

I would certainly love to see the Spanish added, as well as the French, Portuguese etc. Even Americans would still fit, but they wouldn't be much different than the Royal Navy TBH. Considering the audience for this game is mostly based in the UK it makes sense to start with the current factions. I am sure if the game continues to do well Adam will consider an expansion, but I think Tombstone is taking up most of their focus right now IMO.
