School uniform for the kids school has just quadrupled in price from the usual supplier and the colour shirts/blouses they need have been discontinued for all suppliers except the really expensive one.

I have located a company in US where, even with import taxes and shipping, it will be cheaper to buy them than over here in the UK however they wont ship to the uk! ...lol!

Ebay sellers in US do sell them in the style but not the size i need so the only choice i have is either to buy them and get them shipped to a GA address and then the GA address ship them to me or buy a load in white and dye them yellow and then spend the entire life of the shirt separating it from everything else in my laundry basket top stop it coloruring everything yellow. or pay the UK supplier who knows he has stronghold over the supply (and is why he has raised his prices.

What a palaver

Sometimes it requires thinking outside of the box. And luckily someone who may have an answer. I am hoping that bright yellow and you are talking polo shirts. If that is the case would this be ok?

That's what you get from someone who runs two football teams! I hope that is a help, if not it might be worth looking at alternative sources such as this for them.

You should buy a truckload in and sell them at your school over the next few years at a better price than the other company.

its not Polo shirts...its proper shirts, our kids school wear ties even from Year 1. thats the problem. all school uniform suppliers except one only supply shirts in blue or white...........cant find yellow anywhere

Send the photos to one of the chinese compamies and ask for a sample of say twenty as you are after a large order - they may provide them for free - you can then decide not to go ahead with the main order anyway !

Ha, I remember doing that with a chocolate company. I said I was part of the scouts and we were wanting to sell chocolates. My brother and I got a box full of goodies for free.

the yellow looks simaler to the colour from my old secondry school

ahhh nope theyve changed the uniform code in the last 20 odd years.. drat.. and the hocky / rugby shirt looks worse that the one i wore. ( and that takes doing)

I assume that someone has spoken to the head/board of governors, questioned the thinking involved in specifying yellow shirts and told them that the sole supplier is taking the mick on the price? If nothing else, you think they would be decent enough to organise bulk buying and negotiating a discount with the monopoly supplier.

the uniform hasnt changed since the school opened about 30+ years ago. we used to be able to get them from a company called 'Banner' who have now decided that after 30+ years of selling yellow shirts that they arent going to sell them anymore.

i can get them still from 'Monkhouse' but they are £22 for 2 blouses and no boys shirts

the school have negotiated with someone who can get hold of the shirts wholesale from ...yup you guessed it 'Banner' but they are still coming in at £12 per shirt.

Lobby the head/governors for a white shirt option which you can get anywhere for tuppence ha'penny? Surely. the powers-that-be are not so hung up on yellow shirts that they don't give a damn about the cost/hassle to the parents?
