A good year for fantasy dwarves at the movies
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:17:02 AM »
Was wondering if anyone else had noticed the movie adaptations of Snow White that will be coming out in 2012?

Not a big fan of the Twilight series, but am really curious to see what they make of their dwarves, especially as Eddie Izzard and Nick Frost will be playing them. Plus I liked Chris Hemsworth in Thor and from the trailer, he looks good playing a high fantasy type character as well...

Just hope it doesnt bomb at the box office the way Red Riding Hood did, because I would really like to see more fairy tales converted into dark fantasy type films in the future, so just wanted to give the movie a boost by posting about it in here...

That does look like it could be worth keeping an eye out for. Cheers.

There is also the Julia Roberts version which will be released in the summer, but I m not plugging that one in here as it doesnt have the 'high fantasy' look. The costumes and set have a more traditional fairy tale feel to them (vaguely Renaissance/Baroque) and the little that could be seen of the dwarves made them seem a bit more cartoonish (so i guess they arent dwarves, just silly old dwarfs...)

Plus Charlize Theron is soooo much better looking than Julia Roberts...

There are too! So that's 21 dwarves.

And yes, Charlize Theron >>> Julia Roberts, even compared to the young Julia.

especially as Eddie Izzard and Nick Frost will be playing them.

And Bob Hoskins apparently.
