Was thinking that a game might be more a mix of Polo and Grayhound racing....... Mounted Fubarnii going after a "bunny" thing. This would be a mix of Survival and Warfare training and Sport. A game/sport played in a hollow area.

I am not cruel but just practical. Kind of like "Bull Fighting" or something.

Good point from Rick on the old eyesight issue, and the binoculars are far too new an invention to have made their way into sport.

A bullfighting style sport does possibly make sense. It seems less 'noble' than some sort of ball based game, but then again I think the Fubarnii probably have plenty of passtimes that aren't that noble.

In some post I read that engineers make a sort of a competition with their creations. Why not a sport with engineerr's creations?

Survival skills against a bunny! Reminds me of the Klingon Tribble hunt jokes from Star Trek!

Good idea if you scale it up a bit though. A popular 'sport' around the middle ages for nobles was deer and boar hunting. Deer hunting was done from horseback with spears and tested a riders skill and agility, running deer are fast and change direction! Boar hunting was done on foot and was pretty dangerous, the Boars were vicious and fought back!

Maybe a mounted Grishak hunt might be the way to go after all?

I think this has been sort of done by the Pax Limpopo "Pig Tickler" rules, played it once, hilarious!

Rule #37: There is no "overkill". There is only "open fire" and "I need to reload".

The engineers' competitions are more like tests to settle boasting than a sport Smile  Large amounts of money can be involved though, both in bets and in the economic/industrial adoption of the winning technology.

But the Empire Knights are particularly fond of a mounted game which is vaguely similar to Pato:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pato
This was appropriated (and somewhat formalised) from its origins as a folk-game, to serve as a training exercise, before coming full-circle and gaining popularity outside the military.
