Less than two weeks to go to Salute!  Blink

Here's the flappy beast... I hope you like him. He's on a small base, has a 52mm wing span and will come with the metal base. He'll work just as well with one of those clear plastic flight bases if you prefer, but I wanted to do something a bit more unusual. I'll have a limited number on sale at Salute and they'll go into full production later in the year.

The world of Anyaral has many species of flying creatures, from the numerous Frenu to the elusive Kaopi. One species that is particularly feared by the Fubarnii is the Kosok. Small flocks of these vicious predators have been known to attack lone travellers or herds of enuk in some regions. Kosok eggs are also sometimes captured by Devanu who then train the creatures to take down small prey (such as Fubarnii).

That is awesome. So I take it they won't be mounts for Fubarnii then. So these will be more beasts along with the grishak for the Devanu then?

Cracking flappy beast.  Thumb Up  Love the tail design, kinda fishlike imho.

Would like to see a view showing the main body clearer. Oh and Im assuming there will be an option to buy without the cast base ? In fact I would suggest having the base as an optional extra and the clear plastic ones as standard. Depends whats most cost effective I suppose.

What colourings do you see for these. Muted or more parrot like colourfull ?

@Jubal.......op says 52mm wingspan.

The tree base is really cool, so detailed with little mushrooms roots and stones at the base.

My kosok is purple  Very Happy

I know, I'm just crap at visualising. What's that compared to a Fubarnii?

From the top of the base to the top of the beastie is just shy of 45mm

Fubarnii militia are about 23mm

@beefcake - nope, not mounts. I hadn't even considered that as an option before Brandlin asked me about that (he wants to build fancy launch platforms and nest areas into his houses). I might have to consider something bigger, but that would be a looong way off!
@Klute - glad you like him  Very Happy Hopefully you'll get your very own in the post today.
As for base options... I'm torn. Keeping them together makes stock management a hell of a lot easier, but it is annoying to be forced to buy a chunk of metal that you won't use. For the pre-release models at Salute they'll just come as a set, but I'll think more carefully for the full release and maybe source some flying bases.
I imagine it could be quite a brightly coloured beast - possibly not with actual rainbows on its wings, but a parrot would not be bad inspiration. I sculpted it well before seeing Avatar, but there are some good ideas for paintschemes there!

I had thought the preview i saw this beast had leathery batlike witngs but from the detail it does look like you have the 'suggestion' of feathers on it ... is that right?

hmmm I had assumed that anyaral woud ahve developed some other biological solution to flight - but it seems you have gone for feathers ! Wink

The wings are bat-like.

I'm no expert, but it's like a thin wing membrane with 2 fingers outstretched. Definately no feathers.

I imagine it glides...... Scratches Head

well, thats what i thought when i saw the bone structure, but what then are the elongated V shapes in relief on the wings - they look like the stylised suggestion of feathers to me?

Lol I was seriously refraining from mentioning Avatar before as thats exactly how I was seeing these colour wise. I see them not over the top with colour but maybe 2 or 3 very bright colours.

OOh shiney stuff in the post eh.....better post a shiney paintjob for you then in the forum  Very Happy

I'll try to remember some superglue for the day... could be useful for plenty of different emergencies!

The marks on the wings are similar to the Devanu and Enuk nodules, and should hopefully be a bit of a guide for painting, rather than being too obvious.

Awesome looking 'bird'. really, really like it a lot. So nice to see a flying creature in the Twilight settings.

Might have to cut a deal with some of you that are going to Salute - to pick this up for me. Don't think I can wait for it's general release.
