You actually asked me if I was pissed and I said that I just thought it was ironic, and I explained why too.
Last year I was liking the way that Andy's dragon was shaping up so I e-mailed him to tell him so and ask if he would give me permission to use it as a basis for a 15mm dragon. Andy said no. He said a lot of thought goes into the design of a model like this. All I needed to hear, I agree with him on that and backed right off. (I've since decided to make my dragon, which hasn't even been started yet, wingless and more lizardy.)
Well, then a month or so ago I open up a thread on TMP and I see a crabman quite similar indeed to concept sketches I had posted on TMP in fall of 09. Hmm, I think, who made that? Why, it's the very same Andy from Heresy! People started e-mailing me and telling me that it was an obvious copy, something I was not so convinced of, but I just had to laugh when I thought of the conversation Andy and I had had about the dragon, and now this turns up! So I wrote Andy privately and that's pretty much what we talked about. I pointed out how ironic it was to see the crabman after the dragon discussion. Andy said yes, it would be ironic, except he had not seen my concept sketches and that was good enough for me, believed him. Still, as I said, it was ironic for my part!
This all happened privately because I wouldn't post anything like this publicly (even though several people chose to do so on that TMP thread), as it could hurt someone's reputation to air this kind of thing publicly.
And that, as the man says, is that.
