While you're out of work why not a Pay-As-You-Go?  People can call you; you restrict your calls out to dire emergencies only.  One last monthly outgoing to worry about.

I don't know much about phones either, but I know when we got one of our office phones that was NEVER used more than it's 25 pound a month tarrif (and rarely even close to it) was stolen and used non stop, 24/7 for 3 weeks to make calls to eastern europe and pulled up a bill of almost £5,000 pounds orange didn't think to check and even gave the fraudsters extra permissions on the phone when they called and didn't know our passwords and then, when we explained the situation and pointed out what had happened and how they hadn't exactly helped in the whole situation they sent us a lawyers letter telling us to pay immediately or be taken to court

Orange are scum

I'm using O2 at the moment for 15 pound a month O2 to O2 calls & texts are free so if you go for the 5 free sims you could get the whole family to change, i topped up for 10 months & as every one i phone is on O2 it was free, i didn't top up this month as i had 150 pounds credit so I'm using some of this up before topping up again. Hope this is of some use.

Er, now I'm confused.

Pay-as-you-go, as in, don't pay anything unless you make a call.  No monthly contract.  Like the phone I keep in my car for emergencies.  Had it four years, spent £12.00.  (Have to make at least one call every three months to keep the SIM active.)

i've got a virgin pay as you go phone.

basic rate is 15p per minute for calls, 10 p for texts.  texts to other virgin phones are 3p and calls 5p.

if you put £10 on it per month you normally get free texts all weekend and sometimes free calls too, i get 300 free texts every time i put £20 on it and a months free internet on the phone too
I don't have a catchphrase yet.............
