What's everyone listening to?
« on: November 18, 2009, 07:49:37 PM »
I wonder what sort of music everyone listens too? Do you have different types for painting, gaming and relaxing?
I'll start the ball rolling with Covenant - We are the men and Rammstien - Fur Frie and a bit of trancendental for relaxing.

Classic Rock for me, such as AC/DC, Meatloaf, Queen etc. I have a lot of movie soundtracks which I listen to when sculpting and painting. I'm also after a woodland sounds, which Classic FM used to play as a test signal and it was brilliant, really nice to have in the background. I also quite like Rod Stewart too, but only after beer.

Today I've been listening to N-dubz, Roachford, Foo Fighters, Prefab Sprout, Evanescence, Snoop Dogg and Metallica.

I paint in silence TBH, I like to zone out and just enjoy painting.

Hell yeah - heard their track on Radio 1 first, I listen to it to stay up to date with what the kids at the home are listening too and so I know what is 'Hip' plus I like it

I have an ecleptic taste in music due to my upbringing. Me ol mam plays piano and so had a lot of lps of piano concerta's etc that she played to me as a kid quite a lot, plus she used to do her piano practice when she had put me to bed when I wasn't around trying to bug her and generally getting in the way. So I used to fall assleep to the sound of the piano tinkering away. The knock on effect being that now sometimes I can't sleep so I have to put some headphones on and listen to classical music.

Amoungst other things me mam liked the beatles and a hell of a lot of mowtown and 60's/70's pop, the mainstream stuff really. My dad being a very different beast liked the alternative stuff of that era such as the Kinks and the Rolling Stones and was more into Jazz and rythem and blues.

Suffice to say I listen to it all! I also like modern stuff like Foo Fighters, Greenday, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wolfmother, Kasabian, Snow Patrol, Paolo Nautini (sp?), Dizzy Raskal, Duffy, along with some 80s/90s stuff.

Right now I am digging Wolfmother in a big way, going to see them in January when they play the UEA in Norwich. I also realise that I have probably answered this in way, way, way too much detail!  8:::

At the moment Sal is playing one of the Live Lounge CDs.

No doubt Kate will put some of her crap on soon, then I'll have to put my headphones on and listen to Band of Brothers or Ghost in the Shell.
In the war-torn darkness of the future, there is only Grymn.

Deep Space Nine: Officially not as good as Stargate.

There's an old Eastfield song with a chorus that starts: "Phil Collins, Phil Collins, how do you sleep at night?" Marvellous!

Generally I swing between listening to goth/darkwave and EBM to female singer/songwriters (Kristin Hersh/Mary Lou Lord/Tori Amos) to American indie stuff. Current favourites are the long awaited reissue of Pylon's second album (Chomp More), Psydoll's new album (the title escapes me and I've left it in the car) and ASP's Horror Vaccui compilation. All good stuff.

"That's interesting. Horses don't USUALLY explode, no matter how hard you hit them."

Rodrigo y Gabriela - great Spanish guitar to paint and chill out to - especially after a day of dealing with advertising reps! I listen to it at break times so I don't have to kill anyone for their idiocy inbetween times

Also listening to Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown, Audioslave - Audioslave and Twisted Sister amongst others.
