Classic characters
« on: March 26, 2008, 01:17:28 PM »
Looking at the cowboy range I'm a little surprised there are no really iconic figures included.
Suggestions

"Man with no name" ("for a few dollars" more outfit). Poncho thrown back over his left shoulder, sheepskin vest and shooting from the hip.

Col Mortimer -with his shoulder-stocked revolver

Tuco -as he was in the final gunfight, with the distinctive way he carried his gun and his "what's going on???" experession

El Indio -holding the pocket watch.

Nino -the really big bear like mexican who was Indio's lt.

Wild (the hunchback)

Bret Maverick (James Garnier, of course)

Wild Bill Hickock -gun butts angles forward, big knife on his belt -look for the actual pictures of him.

any others?

The Waco Kid? A small child to shoot him in the a$$?

If anyone made a figure of the Outlaw Josey Wales I'd buy him. Also, a Lone Watie figure to accompany him. To this day, the Outlaw Josey Wales remains my all-time favourite western film.

OJW would be a good one too, although I think Man with no name is more distinctive.

Make him and I'd probably start buying cowboys -and we all know how that turned out with the pirates...

Rooster has to be on horseback, pistol in each fist and horse reins in his mouth.  Although the feisty Audrey Hepburn would be a decent sidekick.

The 'nun' sister Sarah and her 3 mules (also a darn fine Clint western).  I also recall one western set in the early 20th century with a German riding a Motorcycle and weilding a Mauser automatic...  Who could be a good idea for a 'period' modern cowboy...

And then theres the cheese collection;

Lone Ranger, Tonto and Silver.

With Coburn I always think of the bit where the outlaw says
"All I see is a fat old man on a tired old horse" and Rooster draws himself up indignatly. Love his expression at that moment

-and then cries "Fill yer hand..."

Might you consider making a figure of Kwai Chang Caine, the character David Carradine played in the 1970's TV series Kung Fu? I'm surprised no one else has suggested him. Or is it just me showing my age by remembering the series?

I am certain that Grasshopper has been suggested before.

The Chinese did make a big contribution to the West, although I suspect most of the models of them would be waving picks and railworker's hammers rather than six guns.

Caine would be good

What about a few Spaghetti Western themed minis?

Django:

You could have a special edition double Django figure - one dragging the coffin as above and the other with his gattling gun:

or what about Cuchillio with his knives:

or Silence and Loco from The Great Silence:

Silence

Loco

or what about the Three Amigos:

Okay, only joking about the last one!!

How about El Guapo?

He needn't be in a plethora of poses, though.
