Had a good laugh at myself just now. I have been trying to find a part of a story that I read in an issue of Heavy Metal quite a while ago. I haven't been able to come up with any ideas, but I had a feeling that the story was done by Pat Mills and Olivier Ledroit, the same authors of Requiem: Vampire Knight. So I decided to write an email to Heavy Metal.
I wrote:
Hi. This may be a bit of a hard question but here goes. I am looking for an issue of Heavy Metal that I read once, sadly I no longer have that issue, so I am trying to find it again. I don't know what year it was from but I do know that it was from between 1999 and 2002. What I can remember about the story had to do with a fleet of ships moving across the galaxy, I think bringing Christianity to other planets. One panel in the story showed a man holding a little green alien that he had given chewing gum to. Other parts of the story involved a sport called "Dwarf Ball". I hope I'm not getting things mixed up here.I was going to write more but, it was at this point that I picked up the copy of 'Sha' (by Mills & Ledroit published by Heavy Metal), that I had just got in the mail from an online bookstore. I got it on Friday Jan 13 (haven't gone beyond page 10 or so). Lo and behold! The fleet of ships and alien with gum are the opening few pages of part 2!

Imagine, if I had read the book the second I got it, I could have saved myself, like, the twenty minutes it's taken to write this and the start of my letter to Heavy Metal!!!

And, I would have said "OMG (but the whole expression, not the acronym) that's what I've been trying to find!!"
I am such a weirdo. Look in the dang book you just got siuptd!

So the issue I was trying to find was March 2000. The brain is an odd thing...
