Perhaps it's not luck.

Perhaps it's working your arse out to keep Her Majesty's helicopters in the air, and doing a good work at that. Every now and then, the guys "up there" will notice.
Kitbashing mechs may have something to do with it, too.

On a completely different note, not really makes me happy but is kind of exciting: my town and quite a large surrounding area is currently experiencing a wind storm with wind speeds in excess of 100km/hr.  Not bad for the coastal mountainous area of southwestern British Columbia.

Did you get wet?

nope, they have BIG signs warning of spitting dinos,  and as it was lovely and dry, you could see the slobber arcs,   but i have to admit the 1st one was rather a suprise when it spat at the couple a few yards ahead.

Zoo

:D

I was off at the Belfast Zoo, Saturday before last.  Looked at likkle baby meerkats rolling and playing (right beside the giraffes, which were doing a stately circuit of their enclosure and being soundly ignored by most); of the 'invisible' animals (tigers, hunting dogs, fossas, and a lot more) I managed to see the maned wolf and listen to it makes some fairly odd calls; had a look at some dinosaurs meself  ; and various other weird and wacky animals.

Highlight was the lions, though.  I walked up and looked at them, lying in a bunch under the shade of a tree.  One lioness was a short distance from the others, and looking at me a bit more intently.  I remembered a bit I heard about a turned back being irresistable to lions, and did just that.  After a few seconds I turned back.  She was still lying down but turned towards me, and a couple of feet closer.  I turned away again.  Just as I was turning back to face her again, I heard a rustle of leaves and a twanging at the fence.  There was a lion a scant two feet away, looking a lot bigger close up, giving me a pretty dirty look.

It got the old adrenaline pumping, I can tell you.

I never saw any lions in Kenya...which was a real shame :(.  I did get to stroke a Cheetah though...so it sort of made up for it.  I was able to go into a cage with three of them while they were distracted by a meal.  They have very coarse hair and it is quite tufty at the shoulders.  I never got the one I was stroking to purr, which is a shame because they are the only big cats that purr (apparently).  It was definitely a moment in life.

Got a call from a client, they want a short piece shot on Monday and delivered by mid-October.  A little too late to stop the money from having COMPLETELY run out, but at least it will give me another batch to run through...

I abhor this little guy but he currently sums my feelings up well:

second day out of the week today, been for a falconry experience day.. got to fly a few, ranging from tiny little falcons and owls through mid sized falcons and eagles to a couple of big ones, and have a wood land walk with a Harris hawk,  in lovely sunny weather.  This was for both Sapphire Penguin and myself as a wedding anniversary pressie to each outher.

That's great. Some friends of mine used to run a sanctuary for injured birds of prey - beautiful creatures. Happy anniversary.
