I've a month off work. I've visited my sister and nieces, and right now I'm in Hobart, Tasmania visiting my parents.

Only a week to go and I finish shift work and move onto permanent days...and get a desk to put things on...and join a new team...having a direct effect on the helicopter fleet...

New job a week Monday :)

Finished my Christmas shopping today - well ahead of the game this year ! I even managed to get a good deal for a complete stranger in a well known computer game shop much to the annoyance of the salesman who had the poor woman tied up in knots over an X-box 360 for her grand kids - she left the shop with an extra game after I pointed out a better deal I had spotted online -things like that happen when I get bored in 20 minute queues
Arrived home to find my HF parcel waiting  :boing:

Two weeks off, starting tonight. Maybe a few days away in a pretty (English) city, some Christmas shopping, general pootling and hopefully some painting too.

Nothing better than having a BBQ breakfast then going for a swim and a water fight on Christmas day. I wouldn't mind having a white christmas though for once, it never did snow on Xmas day when I lived in England, then again that was only 1 or 2 xmas'

All Christmas shopping done and almost all presents wrapped now. Just waiting for one purchase to be delivered, and as it was posted on Tuesday, fingers crossed that will be any day now. Back to work next week. Hopefully for the usual silliness.

I went to Yorkshire this weekend to visit some friends of mine. Money has been tight for a while, and I hadn't been able to afford to do that since early in 2009. We didn't do anything extravagant, just simple things like taking the dog for a walk, watching a film on DVD, cooking a meal together and going out for lunch. But it was so, so nice just to see our friends and spend some time with them. It's the happiest weekend I've had for a good long while.

sometimes those are the best times.  earlier this year i went back to Portsmouth to see some friends whom i had last seen when i was pregnant with Meg.   Before i met Kj and moved away Mandy, Emma and I were inseparable.

just sitting on the freezing beach or walking along the shoreline watching Meg and Luke pick up stones it was as if i had never been away from Pompey...all of those missing years just vanished and the time i spent with Mandy and Emma although brief was fab.

Sometimes you dont need to be physically close to good friends to know they are there but it is nice to be around them as well!

most mornings i wake up grumpy.   sometimes i just let him sleep.

my life consists of brief snatched moments of living my life hidden deep among chaos, confusion& the  going crazy, every night i go to sleep filled with hope & enthusiasm for the new day coming.  then i wake up & think "here I go again" & just aim to survive.

That's great. Earlier this year I got back in touch with an old friend who I'd not seen in years. She helped me through some bad times and was a real rock for me. Since then she's gone through some rough stuff herself. El and I went to see her and her husband in the summer. Played with their cats, drank their coffee... Good people, and good to meet up again.

You do know you can invite them up to stay any time you want, don't you?

One thing about that trip up to see my friends was especially nice. They'd been a bit worried about their Labrador, Sammo*, as he can be a bit lary and over-protective about the house. As he hadn't seen me for more than half his life, they were concerned that he'd see me as a stranger and decide that this obvious dangerous brigand must be seen off. And, bless him, he's not really aggressive but he's a big old bruiser.

They needn't have worried. He greeted me ecstatically and, for half the first evening there, kept coming and giving his toys to me. But not to play with, he just wanted to dump them in my lap then run off and get another one to give me. It was rather sweet even though manky toy penguins, dinosaurs and fish that are covered in doggy drool aren't usually top of my list of must-share items.

That made me smile.

And pay day just came around and I placed a little Hasslefree order. :)
