@Vermis  You've got way more skills in the drawing department than I have  looks good.

As for making me happy, three coats of paint on the walls means the next step for the hobby room is lay down the floor.

P.S  Having a short work week then a week of makes me happy too!

After a couple months of hemming and hawing over stuff, I officially placed orders today for a broadcast-quality HD video rig.

Getting back from holiday and going in to work...only to find out that all of the prep for a detachment that I was expecting to have to do, had been done by my oppo!  No rushing around to book transport, accommodation, tools etc...it was all done :).

I had a lovely chilled out holiday on a country estate in Somerset, with frequent visits to the sea-side.  I even got a fly past by a pair of Chinooks with two Apache gunships as escorts...fortunately they went past...

I am a happy Inso at the moment :) .

As of 5:00:00 PM today I will be officially on holidays.  I plan to go up the lake to our float cabin, relax, finish my painting room, relax, paint minis etc.  Not in any particular order.

That all sounds cool !

I remember when I was in the Falklands and went to visit 'Sealion Island'.  While I was there, I was living about 50 yards from a massive penguin colony (with 3 different sorts of penguin) and can really appreciate why people find them so interesting...they just have a comic, wobbly charm about them...especially when the chicks are pottering about.  I had completely wild penguin chicks pecking at my boots while I was there.  Nature has a way of humbling you :).

Well this might give my mini addiction a good kick (good thing I stocked up first). Yesterday we went out and bought a new to us car.  We got a '05 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx.  HUGE in storage space and leg room and only 63xxx kms.  Got a good price, quite low monthly payments.  Hope its a good car to us.  Best thing about it is, it's an end to a string of $500 junk boxes.   :woohoo: No more head gasket changes in the back yard!  :woohoo:

My brother has a 6 month tour there before joining his unit in Germany for 2 years.  He said the only thing he is looking forward to are the wildlife-watching opportunities

One of my earliest memories is of being 'lost' at Edinburgh when I was 3. Well, I wasn't lost. I was exactly where I wanted to be, watching the penguins. It's just my mum and dad didn't know I was there. If they hadn't found me, I might have been Lord of the Penguins (like Tarzan in evening dress) by now and we could have had adventures foiling smugglers and Antarctic space Nazis.

Alas, it was not to be. Still, it probably turned out for the best.

Depending on what part of the year he goes, he will get excellent opportunities to see everything from Killer Whales to 'Jolly Rooks'.  My only recommendation would be to make the most of his time there because it is an extraordinary place.  The battlefield tours, heli-trips, memorial visits, nature watching are all worth looking into.  The gymnasium is one of the best in the RAF and there is plenty of opportunity for a few social swigs here and there too.  I was only there for 4 months but fell in love with the place.

What makes me happy today is my son eating for the first time in over a week.  He is currently in hospital and came off his drip yesterday.  It seems that he has started making those small steps to recovery...I am very glad.

I spoke too soon...he's back on the drip and not holding any food down.  More tests tomorrow and hopefully some sort of way forward.  I am so peed off right now :(.  Poor little wotsit, he's had enough as well.

Our painting/hobby room floor has been completed.  The finish is supposed to be left for 72hrs to fully cure, but I don't think I can wait until Tuesday after work.  I have one day left of my vacation and I may start moving back in tomorrow.  Then I can get to painting my 'new to me' heresy tunnel dweller among heaps of other minis.

Placing an order with HF on Friday and receiving the figures on Monday morning made me very happy. Also, this is my 1000th post, so that also makes me happy.  :D

I am very happy because my boy is back at home after his hospital fright.  He is still wobbly and in need of a lot of fattening up but he is home where we can sort him out .

In two weeks he lost a fifth of his body weight...scary stuff :( .
