I've finally finished my Ex Illis game boards. I don't play the game (never even tried it) but they were a bargain buy and with 9" x 9" tiles they should be fine for rpg and skirmish gaming. I'm not one for big projects and while I know some people would put more hours in and have them looking way better than mine, I do think they've ended up OK. Also, almost finished my Knight Models Green Arrow and I'm pretty happy with him too,

Been teaching my 9 year old daughter to paint figures for the last couple of days.
She got the fundamentals straight away, and thins her paints like a pro. I'm one proud dad.  :D :D
I give her a year and she'll be better than me at it.

Finished putting up a small retaining wall for a raised garden down the back of the house. Now I just need an extra 10 cubic metres of soil...

Slightly odd this one.

A year ago today a man that I have never met, was most famous for doing something when i was only one years old, but ultimately shaped my life has died an old man following surgical complications.

There is much in there that should make me sad. But i prefer to say

"Thank you Neil Armstrong, for doing what you did, being the unwilling hero and focal point for the efforts of tens of thousands and ultimately turning me into a rocket scientist!"

Rest in peace.

Yesterday was father's day here. My family don't usually do anything except give our significant other the day off doing any house work. I managed to get 4 of my new bones miniatures fully painted in that day. My kids made it great as well. My son was soooooooooo excited it was fathers day, for days before he had been busy wrapping "gifts" to give me and kept asking me how excited I was. He also let the cat out of the bag that my wife had done the usual buying of lotto ticket and scratchies, that we also do, but he kept saying he wasn't going to tell me what was in it, only that it was a surprise. (He didn't actually say what it was). All in all a good day that brought a smile to my face. Even the kids joined in with some of the painting too. My daughters first paintjob on a goblin wasn't too bad. She had a very good idea of what to do for a newly turned 2 year old.

I remember a while back someone feeling a bit sad that the "things that p!$$ you off" thread had way more comments than this one. Makes me happy that the majority of that thread is for well-wishing of those not feeling so great.

Good news comes in threes I suppose :). My names been added to a list of potential illustrators for a sci fi series there's a lot of talent on it and I'm not sure if my works good enough to make the cut :). I have had a load of poetry published recently including my first poetry collection. Finally I'll be attending my first Model Fest in well a long time really. I'm looking forwards to it.

The sci fi project sounds interesting and it was Doug Drexler who put my work through he worked on Dick Tracy and Star Trek so he seems to like what I've done. Model fest is always good its mostly military wargamers, some sci fi and my wife and I who represent the fantasy side of things. Not entirely sure how that came about but oh well.

Met Robert Llewellyn at a sci-fi con in Norwich yesterday - thoroughly nice chap - had a chat about horses (apparently his daughter's horse likes to put him in hedges on a regular basis) and he told us he is currently working on a new series of Red Dwarf.

I would be VERY jealous if he had  :grrr:
Mr Llewellyn spent 15 minutes having a chat with us  and posed for a photo with my mate and his little boy - think we appeared normal compared to the line of fat jedi, dr who's and smurfs ...... sorry Avatar look alikes that had built up behind us !  :lmao
My friend wasn't going to ask him for an autograph because he didn't know what to talk about - I was so tempted to start singing this behind him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3t3IKlXqFU
