Honestly? Because I just wasted £200 on the rubber for the mould for the torso only for it to not work - impossible to get the torso out without snapping bits off, thus wasting the whole cast - I've been too nervous to repeat the failure with the last remining tub of rubber that I have. Added on to that a complete and utter lack of sales coming in because all the time I've spent dealing with dragon problems over the last few years has meant I haven't made enough new figures to keep the sales coming in (plus Kickstarter stealing all wargamers' money) so I find myself in a position where I am desperately trying to find the money to pay rent. As much as I need to get the Dragon sorted out, if I don't find a short term solution to the lack of money, I'm going to have to go bankrupt and then nobody gets any dragons at all, so there's a necessary delay in proceedings. If I could magic twelve grand out of nowhere, I could pay Antenociti's Workshop to cast all the remaining dragons, and not have to worry abotu it again, but the only way I can think to do that is to run a kickstarter for plastic skeletons and make sure I take twelve grand over the costs of the moulds, sprues, shipping, VAT, HMRC tax and KS fees. So that's my plan B right now.
Plan A is still to get this bloody torso mould working - I was supposed to go to Antenociti's last week, he's asked to have a go at moulding it as he has a similar sized project planned and wants to work out a few things in terms of practicality, resins, etc, thus helping me out and him out at the same time. If he can get the mould working, I can copy it for future moulds. Once this particular hurdle is out of the way, it's THE hump in the current proceedings, the rest should be straightforward and I just have to find another grand to get enough rubber and resin in to get the first few self-cast dragons out - in theory. Things are, like I say, tough. I haven't paid myself or my wife since April, we've been living off the proceeds of the house sale, which is all gone as of December.
This being me and my current run of luck, the day that I set off to get to Jed at Antenociti, my car immediately broke down and is at the moment in the garage whilst mechanics scratch their heads and try to work out what the hell is wrong with it (it's day two, and nothing they've tried has worked yet)
So as soon as that's fixed, and hopefully it will be a bill that i can fit on my personal credit card and just pay the interest on, I can get over to AW and see what an expert can do with it. Just waiting to hear from the garage. I will update once I've been over to Jed's and he's had a go at moulding it. Might be a week or two before he comes back to me, though.
