Hmmm. Been discussing Dragon with Ian. Not only is it costing about 60% more than thought (rubber), but it's killing his business making it as much (if not more) as it's killed mine making it. I feel like Obi-Wan shouting at Darth Vader: You were supposed to save us, not destroy us! (paraphrase)
So I guess I was wrong about the whole not making a loss on £100 thing after all...
The problem is not the amount of resin - that's pretty much as expected. The problem is the moulds themselves - they are massive and complicated and thus use a lot more rubber to make, a lot more time to cut. And that rubber is really, really expensive, and Ian can't work for free. (he basically is, but he can't afford to do so)
It's going to take me longer to pay for all the pre-ordered dragons due to lack of funds, and it's going to take Ian longer to cast them due to alck of assistants to handle his other day-to-day stuff. We're both operating on a knife-edge in cash terms so please be patient a while longer. You will get your dragon eventually! I promise you that, even if I end up going bankrupt and having to get a proper job and paying for them from that.
Now I just to have to work out what magical models i can make that will bring in the extra £15,000
I am one stressed northerner.
