And some of us probably will.  However, I for one will now think twice before taking advantage of any pre-orders or special offers from any FOD companies as somehow when you do it is viewed as ripping them off.

Please don't feel liek that Tiacapan. That is not what is being implied at all and no one here is judging you.

Andy offered the preorder at the price he offered and from what I've read here holds no one who has preordered (myself included) responsible. This forum is a as much a big family as anything else and it does not surprise me that some people would feel like they are ripping Andy off if they get the dragon for 100, when it is going to have to retail at 150- 200. This is because they know him well form the forum and want him to survive and keep making miniatures. No one is sayign that you have set out to rip Andy off.

The option of sending Andy more money is jsut an idea floating around isn't it? I haven't seen a post where Andy is saying that that is what he is going to do.

No one is attacking you personally here and it is an unusual situatio we are talkin gabout. Andy had no idea that the dragon would take so long. Usually preorder deals go ahead as presented and run smoothly. To be fair the dragon preorder deal is still going ahead as presented, it's just that we now know that it looks like we are going to inadvertently be getting 'too good' a deal than was initially intended.

Hope this sets your mind at ease.

LD.

"rip off"? Load of nonsense - Andy priced it the way he felt appropriate at the time, and we all helped him out by pre-ordering.

simples

Andy - maybe you should/could close the pre-ordering of the dragon if you are heading towards making a loss on it?

Now lets get back to the excitement of waiting for the completion of the Dragon :D

Don't be daft!

I seriously doubt I'm going to actually technically lose money on the 100 price - it's just that in order to keep going I've had to spend the deposits you've all already made and that makes it tricky to buy in the final figure without finding more money. In theory I'm not making a loss because those dragons have technically been paid for. I'm really hoping that it won't cost me much more than the amount guesstimated originally, and that since the vast majority of reservers have only paid one deposit, some two, I am reasonably confident that I will be able to pay for all the needed dragons without too much fuss once the remainder of the  money is in, which I will ask for once I have the first test pieces in my slashed and putty-stained fingers. So as long as everyone pays the remainder fairly promptly, everything should be OK, crossed fingers.

Nobody is to feel they have ripped me off or to accuse anyone else of ripping me off. If I offer you the Dragon for 100 and you pay 100 and I end up losing 10 or whatever amount then that is down to me. If I offer you it for 150 and you found a sneaky means of only paying 50 for it, or getting a dodgy cast off ebay or down the market, or you gave me counterfeit money at a show, that would be ripping me off. I hope that makes it clear that nobody is to feel bad about giving me money!!

I am sure updated pics would be a good way to convince people to pay promptly :lmao:

Also seeing the dragon eating the good sir knight who is trying to slay him would be funny too.

Oh God!  I feel bad for starting all this now.

I never meant to imply that anyone was ripping anyone else off or that people should feel guilty about getting a bargin, I only meant to put across the fact that "I personally", wether rightly or wrongly, feel uncomfortable with paying an amount that I see as too small a sum, for all the work, all the effort, and all the material costs, that the finished item could or will take.

I guess it comes down to the fact that it's a small friendly company, that needs every penny it can get, rather than a mega giant corporation, that can afford to loose money on a product and not miss it.

Had it been a larger company, then I wouldn't be bothered by it, but as it isn't, then I am.  It's just a personal thing and I don't expect or demand that anyone else feel the same way.

Ditto, when I said I wanted to pay Andy a fair price I just meant that I could see the time and costs involved mounting and I would like to pay him more than the prebooking price by way of reward for his sterling efforts. No aspersions cast and I didn't want to impugn anyones' honour or make anyone feel bad!

I hope that makes it clear that nobody is to feel bad about giving me money!!

Unfortunately, I gave up on waiting for the dragon long ago. In the amount of time since I had paid the first deposit, I had changed armies, and it was no longer useful to me.

I didn't send any angry emails, though! (As I see that is referenced on the deposits page now). I just asked Andy for credit towards the excellent trenchcoat gangers. He even sent a second set when the first got lost in the mail (I'm NEVER geting the cheapest shipping option from the UK ever again!).

So it turned out to be an good experience, and I'd deal with Heresy again gladly. The only thing I wouldn't do again is pre-order a WIP... my life's not stable enough to know what I want model-wise 2 years from now!
