Bit confused with all this talk of extra payments  Thought you just put down your 30 deposit and paid the rest when the dragon was finished...?

Squig

Or you can pay in installments, some people wanted to pay the whole lot up front but in bits. So if you happen to have some spare money at th e moment, but might not later on, you can pay it to me now...

I'm gearing up for my trip to California in October but I'll see what money I have left and if I can I'll make a second installment.

It seems that some extra incentive is required to get the old Drags-on finished, so I've finally given in and ordered one.  muahahahaha

2nd payment done. I might hang off on the 3rd until he's finished. A cash incentive to get him finished!

My address has changed sinced the deposit in January... will that cause any problems?

I was a little concerned since the only email I got back was the automatically generated one. Any chance your accountant might send out a mass email to those who have made deposits notifying them of progress and of when you're getting ready to ship? I know it's not yet, but I want to get my dragon when it's ready, and I still owe a lot of money on it!

Also, would it be possible / OK for you to let us know how many people have pre-ordered? Again, probably a job for your accountant. But he/you probably have an idea since you'll need to know how many to run in the first batch?

Thanks :)

My accountant only does my yearly accounts and tax returns. He wouldn't know which end of a dragon blew flames, I should expect. Nope, it's little old me in charge of keeping the records and stuff. Address change is not a problem as I'll be going off whatever address you give me when all is paid for. And I shall be emailing people to get payment for shipping before sending said dragons out as each will need some sort of insured shipping.

As to how many Dragons have been deposited upon (fnarr) the deliberately vague answer is quite a lot. A huge amount by my standards. Enough that it will take a while for the resin guys to catch up, no doubt about it. As for progress reports, follow me on Twitter and I'll occasionally mention the big scaly feller. Tricky time of year as I need to organise my accounts etc for the aforementioned accountant, plus I'm about to try to sell my house, which involves some redecoration. And we've got a new show coming up on November 14th/15th (Leadbelt at Nottingham) where I'll have the dragon so far on display.

I paid the first installment, and I think that's probably all the scratch I'm going to be able to organize till the Dragon is finished, but I'm still enthusiastic about it!

I don't check in here at the FOD very often, but it's good to see that the Dragon is still a going concern!

From Andy, in order of time

TODAY: I've realised I've put these armoured plates on the dragon tail backwards. That 1-2-3-4 drumming sound is my head on the desk.

YESTERDAY This dragon is officially 1 year and three weeks old now, by the way. Happy Birthday, you time-eating, soul-sucking, scaley bastard.

BU ttoday is all about 'scaling' the last four inches of tail. Dull-diddly-ull.

The dragon now has all its limbs. However, I am going to have another go at the toes as they seem to all be different lengths, but as in different to their opposite foot, so one foot is short and stubby compared to the other.
At the moment, it's at the difficult '90%' stage. Which is where you've done 90% of the work but the remaining 10% takes just as long to do as it mainly consists of going over it again and again and correcting the almost infinite amount of cock-ups, bodges, gaps, etc, as well as thickening sections here and there or replacing bits. I think i am going to have to get some of the drogn cast up in resin and sent back to me before I can finish the sculpt as the weight of the green is making the legs bend and misaling with the rock base. So I know it won't fit together if I was to send it all as is. Things will inevitably reposition themselves in the mould and I need to plan ahead to eliminate as much of that as possible.

It's very hard to photograph. Not only is it so big and 3d that the perspective buggers up on my camera, but it's in so many heavy bits that blu-tac doesn't hold it together in the right pose.

There is still much work to do. But I am at least working on it! I desperately need to finsh it as I need the money from all those remaining deposits to pay tax bill. I can't take them until I know when it will be finished for definite, before anyone asks!
