Quick question - how attached are people to the current set of spines on the neck? Thinking of replacing them with a single line of more traditional spines, for ease of conversion into a rider-area later.

You mean that sorta crocodillian dual line? I actually really like it. Part of what makes it a bit more interesting than your standard. But then I'm unlikely to sully my lovely dragon with some filthy bipedal rider ;)

:metoo: I really like the double spines. Makes him special. It would be a shame to lose that feature, I reckon'.

...but then I haven't ordered one (yet) so feel free to ignore...

I'm with the above posters. I like the dragon the way it is now. And, as Caerban, I won't put a rider on him; I'm pretty sure a dragon so big, ancient and venerable would not tolerate being just a mount.

I also like the dual ridges - it was the second reason I actually paid the pre-order, after the 4 horns.

Dual ridges for me too, I'm thinking about how to paint them with two colours.

Double-spines look cool indeed - another vote there.

Perhaps to integrate a rider you could devise a cool saddle that sits into/around the shoulder area rather than on the neck behind the head. I'd imagine a rider armed with lance (or dragonlance ... hehe) would make his attack after the dragon had already done his thing as they swept past on a strafing run down the lines of the enemy army.

I can even see the rider issuing a , 'He' mine!' command as they dive into attack and the dragon angles it's dive so that the rider make his own attack at his chosen enemy while the dragon chews on a few nearby minions.

I can still see a rider on this dragon - they'd be lifelong companions rather simply rider and riding beast (at least in my head anyway).

I always find myself smirking at what I write when making up rationales for fantasy critters :wry: - but it's so much fun!  :D

Nuts. Have it your own way, then! :surrender: I'll just have to figure a way to get them to run past where the wing shoulder muscles (almost) meet on the back, after all... :scratchhead:

PS Don't blame me when a better-looking variant of the dragon comes out later and you have to buy a second one

They've got that Dragon Fever!

Inter-species love always brings a tear to my eye. :blub:

Especially when one of them is 50 times bigger than the other. Ouch.

you could always have the spines separate and run across each shoulder and a new set of spines start small after the shoulder muscles...

Maybe Michael Whelan

Anyway, searching with Google Images, you'll find a lot of his totally astonishing pictures.

Oh yeah!!!

Andy, that is bloody fantastic!

You'd best be careful or you'll be known as Andy Foster 'the dragon guy' rather than 'the demon guy' after this!
