Spending the day re-attaching all the spines to the dragon as Jed (Antenociti's Workshop) thinks they'll cast up *on* the body OK. This will save YOU time and also look better due to not having to fill it in at your end. I will have to glue tiny sections of rod to the end of each spine to ensure they cast up nicely and air doesn't get trapped in the pointy bits.
OF course, it might prove to be immensely frustrating to cast, in which case I'll have to rip the spines off again at some point and remould them separately. Fingers X'd!
Hoping to get moulding in the next day or two.

Personally. I didn't ever have any issues with having to stick millions of spines in. It's a complicated figure and it's part of what I expected to have to do.

If you're determined to do it though and if it helps you out with casting. Then go for it.

Well said. And not only that, I WANT to stick them. That's not a sweet promenade, that's a heavy fight to win.

For now I'm just happy to know that our dragons might eventually be coming.

Trust me, fitting them and filling the spines is not a joy. Also, by doing it, it saves me five extra moulds if it works, which is a lot...

Very good point. It should save a bunch on casting time too.

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant - five moulds worth of casting time per dragon, times 200 dragons, is 1000 extra moulds not to fiddle about with casting separately...

Makes perfect sense now if it cuts down on the number of moulds needed,

Back at 'normal' work today. Will be attending to the 136 orders this week instead of doing Dragon stuff. :(

Bloody hell. You know - you were ahead of your time with the dragon project. A couple of years later, you could have done it as a Kickstarter... :terrified:

I am sure that nothing I can say will make you feel any less frustrated or p***ed off but chin-up, you MUST be due some pay-back at some point.

You are in a very difficult situation at the moment (where you want to be open and honest about everything) but I think, in your situation, I would take the step to tell everyone that there will be no more news until I had started casting the final product (ie all the casting issues were solved and the list was being attacked).

That way you will not be wasting your time away from family by posting, you will not feel like you have to justify every little setback and you will hopefully manage to feel a little better about everything without feeling you have to keep apologising.

Yes, the Dragon is really late. There is absolutely NOTHING you can do about that. You are trying your damnedest to sort it out... you can't do any more than you are doing!

You NEED to have a bit of time with your family this week. Don't work until ten every night... set a curfew of 6PM and get home. If the orders are a little late, so what... your sanity is more important. You never know... a bit of time with family may be all you need to refresh yourself, get a bit of rest and give you a little bit of extra enthusiasm to tackle the mundane stuff you have been trying to tackle.

The light at the end of the tunnel is just someone with a torch, locking the gate.

Easier said than done - I had to go home at 7.30 pm one night last week as I was utterly knackered and couldn't think straight. Spent entire time on sofa thinking I should be doing Dragon stuff!

Seriously, though, it will all get sorted out, but by God I'll be glad when I'm not pissing about with sculpting scales any more. If only I knew that digital stuff, I wouldn't have had to keep altering things!

(Learning the resin stuff is quite exciting, too. The possibilities are endless. Thinking of plans in my head for how to produce a huge demonic skull dice tower.)

Hopefully you will learn enough useful techniques to make this all worthwhile.

Once done... maybe a Kickstarter for another BIG(ish) project like the dice tower - to make up for lost time in production.

Oh... and you know those Trenchcoat gangers? The person that borrowed them kicked the heck out of my Van Saar while using them in Necromunda. I blame you!  :P (Even if you didn't sculpt them - they are great figures - I think that they inspired his dice.)

The Auld Grump, that it was the first game of Necromunda that I had played in three years had nothing to do with my losing....

nonononno, the reason you lost is because you lent them to some one,  they had to show you how awesome they are, so that you don't give them away :drevil2:

Some pics of the mould making for the torso whilst I wait for the big block of newplast to firm up in the freezer. Extraordinarily heavy!
