.:fake edit:.

If that tin is as big as I imagine, then it probably weighs 50 or so kg with rubber and stuff in it. Be careful when trying to lift that up (or better yet, find someone to help you with that task).

Yeah I had a look and weighed it up too. Even the bits he had, and it wasn't all of it, were obscenely heavy. Nice to see it in the flesh so to speak, much drool was released!

Have to admit, I'm in the crowd that am not particularly keen on getting the dragon in metal... too heavy for it's intended use :( maybe by the time my slot comes up (100 and 30ish dragons away as far as I know) it'll be back to resin...

I thought the point of casting it in metal was to send off masters to Trollforged? As far as I'm aware no one's supposed to get a fully metal dragon.

Nobody is getting a metal dragon. I'm sure I keep telling you all this! Metal masters are for making moulds, that's all.

Hoping to sit down this weekend and finish tweaking the main torso masters and neck for perfect fit, ready for another bout of moulding next week (and further re-tweaking) before those parts - eventually and at long last -go into production moulds in the USA. Assuming I can afford the cost of those moulds.

Got to admit Andy after looking at it at Hammerhead and weighing up the master I am extremely pleased I won't have to hold a metal one! Annnd it bears saying again it looks absolutely amazing built. Don't care about the wait it'll be well worth it when it finally gets sorted and is in my sweaty little hands

How insane would the dragon cost if it was all metal with the current pricing?

You're talking :lmao: of pounds. Like, at least 400.00

Have spent entire week working on the metal master castings I made, hollowing out torso sections and neck and having to resculpt a lot of wing parts - the wings bent very slightly in themould (as did one side of the tors) meaning that because they were so thick - for resin casting purposes - they couldn't be bent back into the right shape and the only thing I could do was get bizzay with a Dremel fitted with serious cutter heads and shave them to all buggery before basically resculpting huge sections of wing and wing fingers so that the metal bits fit together. I now will have to re-mould the parts (at least this time, they won't bend in the mould, being made mainly of solid metal rather than layers of putty and clay) so that I don't have to dick about with this  every time a new mould has to be made.

I seriously think I could have sculpted a new dragon (a much smaller, non-scaled one) in the amount of work I've had to put in to get this thing ready for sending to the USA for spincasting.

Hi to you all mates. I'm absent by a long time, and that's a pity form my English  :lmao
I "escaped" my old firm and now I'm a free professional - and I'm working any damned Saturday and Sunday, from one year ago...
So, no partecipation and no new minis from a very long time.
How about the Dragon's queue?
I hope - truly I hope, because my energies are going down very fast - to return buying & painting very soon.
A big hug to you all, Antonio.

Heya BB,

how are things going? The stuff heading off to the US for casting yet?

I must say that I'm super impressed with all the work thats had to go into sorting this out for all the folks that pre-ordered it :) Still eagerly awaiting mine hehe, but being something like number 176 unless things have changed, I've still got a long long wait ahead of me presumably :)

Cheers

It's 99% ready to send off. I'm trying to decide whether I should take a further casting of it as I've had to modify the metal masters with a fair bit of putty here and there for best fit and it might be better to do another moulding; or it might be better to send them as is and hope they survive a couple of repeat production mouldings, enough to cover the amount of spins needed for the queue to be dealt with.

Definitely take the option that will cause you the least stress/cost in the long run mate :)

p.s. a few pages back there were 118 to go till mine, no idea if that number has changed at all yet? Presumably things have halted whilst you've had the hell of essentially re sculpting large sections?

I'm gonna bet "No", as he's moving house and had to man his stand at Salute, a major minis convention in London.

Well, the news since last post is that the chap in America who was due to be casting the dragon has told me he's too busy to do it until next year. Which is bad. But, I've now sold my house, which will complete on the 3rd of May, and once the funds are in from that and I've unpacked, I'll be seeing about getting this queue sorted once and for all via a couple of different casters. I'll also be attempting to see if I can spin some of it up myself, (even if I have to do the head and hands in metal, for instance, just to get the queue sorted) between the three options things should at last start to move. I'm not giving any dates or anything out yet as it would just be plucking numbers out of the air, and i refuse to break any more promises; once things have been proven to work via the new casters, I'll be able to give firmer info.

If its any consolation to those still waiting. Its taken me this long to pick off where I left off working on this beasty. Just finishing off the claws
. So by the time you all get one, I may have even finished the prepping and basing of it.

Its well worth the wait.
