I'm more concerned about the preview pictures I've just seen of the new Forgeworld dragon. It looks like they copied morew than Andy's Dragon's pose. It seems like a bit of a poor immitation 'though.

Funny enough my first thought when I saw it was  " That looks like a crap Andy's dragon rip off. "

They might try to claim Andy's is a copy of their's (I know it doesn't make sense, but who says anything they do makes sense?)

Am I the only reader here who sees no similarity whatsoever between the two dragons, other then the fact that they are both dragons?  8:::

compare and contrast too:

Sorry...why are these two similar, more so then just both being dragons??

Perched on a tree.
Wings wide open.
Neck turned to the right.
Spines from head to toe.
Mouth wide open in a snarl.

Yep no similarities there at all.

If it helps everyones senses of indignation the GW one was finished and first rumour pics were splashed way back when the Dark Elf Corsairs and Cold Ones were released, they've just held over releasing it until Storm of Magic...

Perched on a tree.
Wings wide open.
Neck turned to the right.
Spines from head to toe.
Mouth wide open in a snarl.

Yep no similarities there at all.

There are a lot of commercially available dragons that match those criteria though, especially if you look at the trinket market as well as the gaming market... Andy's is simply in a class of it's own :D

Not perched on a tree. Standing on a big rock. Resting hand on a tree. (just becuase i thought that would look cool, and I needed a third point of contact to take the weight of the model off the ankles a bit. Was going to be a boulder for about a year or more.)

As to the other similarities, I will shrug and say "Sure. Whatever." Maybe roll my eyes a bit.

I wanted the mouth closed but it was the FOD who demanded the mouth open version when i put it up for discussion. Wings wide open - well, yes. Show me a dragon with its wings closed, and I'll show you a dragon that is not as impressive as it could be.

Neck turned to the right. Well, yes, but then I did spend a few months just waving a head around in the air to work out the best neck position and it came down to straight ahead or right due to the curve in the body.

Spines from head to toe. I like spines and this dragon has spines. I hope GW sues me for that. Oh, how I hope.

I assume you weren't being serious, though. ;)

BTW, I am really out of touch with GW stuff. I only see the bits that turn up on Frothers mainly. I have no idea when that Cowabunga Dragon was finished, I just remember vaguely seeing it on Frothers at some point.
I had this dragon planned since I was 13, if it helps. Only in the original drawings it was standing on a castle turret!

Andy, the maths on this one are simple

You've done a new dragon, GW have done a new dragon and yours kicks its proverbial backside!

Nah, I didn't mean any of it seriously.

Already knew the Forge World one was done ages ago.   :silly

just wanted to do a bit of lighthearted GW bashing.   :wry:

The GW one looks like it would suffer from serious dangle-butt issues if it ever tried to fly.   (And to me it looks like a skinny, scaly rat with a side order of spikes and wings.)

Andy's... doesn't.  :)

 GW dragon looks sadly malnourished, perhaps due to not being able to fly with no musculature to manage the wings. Hopefully it will manage to catch and eat something soon. Andy's looks positively menacing in comparison.

I know which I prefer and luckily I have a substantial amount of money invested in the right one.

I really don't think they're that alike, they have poses vaguely remeniscent of one anothers. One however is coiled with muscular menace and the other... well doesn't really look like it has a musculature. Or working wing membranes. Or any real dynamism to it's pose.

I think Andy is quite safe, although the Warhammer Forge guys might pay him a visit and egg his car out of jealousy

So at the risk of sounding like a broken record, can I buy a dragon head?  Don't mind if it's a miscast....

Without being funny they should be approaching him and begging to purchase his dragon... That would be the smartest move they ever made...

So I got home from two days in London today (without internet access) to find that my dragon (number 001, sorry so excited couldn't resist putting the number in) had arrived in the post, I've seen it on the Heresy Website and at shows but nothing prepared me for how amazing it is to see it sitting on my desk dwarfing everything else around it.

It isn't a miniature, it's a work of (insert expletive here) art.  Andy, thanks for sticking with this it is genuinely amazing, all I need to do now is pluck up the courage to assemble and paint the beast.

Too excited to type any more!
Wake me when it's all over.
