Basically, I dumped enough re-sculpted parts on Ian that he has to remake more than half of the moulds he spent so long making in the first place. Once he's done the moulds for the new main body parts and got me a resin casting, I can finish re-sculpting the back spines so that they'll definitely fit properly on the new body without pushing the two halves apart which is what the spines on the original body were doing, by about 2mm or so.

In theory, once all that's done the wings should be a lot easier to get acceptable castings from and we should be good to go!

Meantime if anyone wants to use their payment to purchase one of these miscast Dragons, ie you're desperate for a dragon and love spending time filling in tiny air bubbles and resculpting missing chunks of scales (easy enough if you have one of the taper point, double ended scultping tools I sell, but time consuming) and you're coming to Salute and want to pick it up there, let me know asap. I have twenty of them which will be available on the day to try and pay for the remade moulds.

I don't mind messing about getting them to fit etc, I was going to suggest that as I feel a little guilty about not being able to pay any extra.  Not going to salute though are you willing to post these ones?

Had a random thought:
would there be any market for selling off all those miscast chunks as bitz box style items, for those people who would like to use random bits of dragon for battlefield scenery, kill trophies or basing bling?

maybe a way to get a little money for all the leftovers so they dont go to waste?

out of curiosity - how much are you selling the not-perfect dragon for?

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but when the dragon goes up for general sale, are you keeping the part-payment scheme?

Probably yes. Although it seems most new folk buy it at full price rather than instalments.

Just had the re-moulded body through. Much better quality - scales all there and no mould slip. Just have to wait and see if the tricky thin top part comes out OK, and re-sculpt these back spines to make sure they fit properly.

Almost there. Again!

Anticipation growing, can't wait to see the many parts (it dont scare me I got epoxy), nevermind just how long it'll take to paint and prepare. Wish I was going to salute.

Just seen it at Salute and its just as awsome as it looks 2D. Sorry no pics as my digital camera is on the blink but you'll just have to take my word for it!

The first ten dragons - albeit miscasts - have now found their way into people's houses following Salute.

You can't imagine how this feels to me! :happytears:

Gutted I missed on seeing it at Salute. Spent a few hours looking at trains and buses the other day before finding out I needed to be at the games club I help run. Looking forward to having my dragons in my hands at some point. Still a waiting game for that though.

Gratz on getting the first ones out the door.

Congrats Andy!  Your first 10 babies off into the world! :D  We came to the stand yesterday and saw the dragon in all it's minty freshness and it was truly awesome. In fact, I felt a teeny bit intimidated by the size - I think I'd forgotten how big he was
