you can always try
cheap battery drill.  grip the chuck key in the chuck,  lay it on the tray your using switch on use the trigger lock. (experiment to get a controllable amount of shake before adding water, plaster etc.)

wile waiting for the news to start today, i caught the end of wimboldon, and the sight of one of the Venus sisters rasing her racket in triumph did make me think she`d make a wonderful additon to the HF line as a leader / champion to the Nubians.

im pleased to hear that he intends to do the honourable thing.  That is the sign of a well brought up lad, takeing responsability when he realises.
and wile it may be a case of feeling sheepish now. im certain hell not do it again, or anything simaler i hope.
From what you said before inso, id more see you with blood on your forehead where youve been head butting the wall, muttering " why me, why me?" ( ive been told that its all in the joys of parenting  :blub:)
still one day youll both look back on it and laugh..   or use it to embarress him at his wedding, 21st, etc

( precurser  i have glasses and dodgy colour vison  following statements need this added to them when read)
all i see with those candlesticks is solid black with a very stark grey almost white highlight and a semi gloss finish,  so to achive it the black templar aproach with a semi gloss high light may work,   you may be onto a long search for what look right for you here.  the outher question is what distance are you going to look at the finish at?  as 6"fro the eye, in the hand will look totaly differant to whats needed at 3` on the table, and with what you want i think  a finish that looks good in one situation, may look rough, or non existant in the outher.

Questions and Answers / Re: Ebony
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:29:24 PM »
streak a "full matt black "  over a very dark grey?  or possibly streaky gloss over black.  part of the problem your going to have is your trying to recreate a micro pattern ( wood grain) on a macro scale.  you cant see the wood grain on a fence panel at distance.  and trying to get it may just look "wrong"
anouther thought is to try to get the stripe effect you can get with artist acrilics if you dont mix the water into them ( get a cheap tude of dayler rowley sytem 3 or simaler acrylic and have a play to see what im mean here)   outherwise  not shure.

now thats nice.
metal? and when?

body armour when riding is a very very good thing, second only to a skid lid and gloves.
Sappire penguin ( quite an accomplished  horse woman) took a tumble a wile back and you could see the bruise line where the armour had spread the impact and where it haddent.

and with the wheels youve drawn on, it wont be landing on the skids on the chin turret.  might just work.

Brandlin,  i will have to agree to disagree with you regarding  that.  Possibly due to my long term custom of GZG, and the knowledge that they will generally have everything at shows, may well bias my view.
For views of various  minis though have a troll through this lot.
it may well help. ( its 18 pages long and has pics and ranges scattered through it.)
At 6mm to be honest i cant realy make out a fat lot of detail, ( he said peering myopically at  a GW eldar and a GHQ world war 2 Brit, and a GHQ modern Brit.) the easiest thing may just be to get hold of cheap ones and paint them the right scheme for what you want.... Id have thought that in 6mm you'd be more interested in the vehicles, than the PBI as they're big enough to be able to see surface detail and discern differant weapons and equipment.

Brandlin,  I hate to point this out but GZG arnt a "big" company,  its a one or two man band.  For what they make, with the amount of time in a day im amazed.  There are pics on the site of a goodly chunk of there stuff, but i admit some is missing.
Have you had a google for 6mm, 1:300th scale infantry?  that should bring up plenty of picks to have a choose of differnt companys stuff.
