Been practicing for nearly 31 years now.  I'd hope it shows.

I was referring to Dethkor's comment.

I know, just being a goof.

Callin' me a kid? :whah?:  No I wouldn't say that it is from what I saw when briefly doing a search.

Just looked that comic up and it looks disturblingly interesting.

Here's the first shot of the first type of giant worms from Trollforged.  These are going to be the same color scheme as the little grubs with red heads.  I decided quite a while ago that the giant worms should be the same species as the smaller ones, just farther along in development.  I'd first gotten the idea before I'd even gotten the first two squads of guardsmen painted back when I only had one of each type.  I'm also thinking that the flail guys will be the prodders for these giant worms.

Enough jibba jabba, the one on the left has base coat and first coat of first highlight.  The right one has base coat and first coat of first highlight on his back only.  It took a really long time as there are tons of little folds and creases in the skin that I wanted to stand out against the highlights.  Sorry jibba jabba'd again.

Will do photos with real camera next time.  They look too brown here.

I was reading through this whole thread and found typos in this post.  So I fixed it.

Heresy / Re: Slugs and Grubs and Maggots, Oh My!

Yeah, to me, each type had to all be the same, otherwise I felt they would just look odd.  If each one looked the same as the others of it's type, then logically it would be because each type was a separate species from the others.

Now the question is, what to do with the Trollforged worms?  I was sort of leaning towards painting them the same as these guys.  When you put them side by side, the grubs look like they could be immature versions of one type, and the maggots look the same with another type.  As for the slugs it doesn't take much imagination to see a slight resemblance with the other type of Ed's worms.
Take a look at this photo.

Far left could be the grubs with red heads, middle could be the slugs, and the right could be the greenish maggots.  Bugs n such physically change drastically from young to adult.  I know this is fantasy but my style is to paint realistic-ish looking fantasy.  It's my maggot party and I'll cry if I want to.

Yeah me too.  I wanted to have them all pale, but I just couldn't make it work.

That dude's got some he77a A$$ big torso and no legs to speak of!  Bases look great though.

I might even consider giving a go this time.

What happens if we start/finish really early?

So here they are the last of the slugs from Heresy for the Cult.  If you've checked out my WIP thread lately you'll have noted that I had a particularly hard time with these last eight.  I wasn't happy with the original four I did.  And, ended up not being happy with another few attempts.  This color scheme I'm happy with, they look good enough to pour salt on.

Here is a shot of all 24 that I've got.  They're divided into two groups of 12 for the two squads of prodder guys.

Here's a shot of the giant maggots with the older paint on the right and the newer on the left.

Same with this one, new left old right.

I ended up using all dark shots as I could not get the lighting right and they all looked mostly white.  There it is.

Working on bases right now.  Getting there slowly.

Yes she was in the film. It is all explained at the council of Elrond.

I am replacing you by that girl with the compound bow.

I wouldn't let her into any council, she's got two Palantir blatantly afixed to her chest, you can't know who is listening.

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Re: Expanding the sci-fi troopers?
« on: February 02, 2013, 05:40:14 AM »
Bump!  I know it's been a while since anything happened here, but a thought occured to me.  I don't know if anyone would like the idea but it came to me that the troopers could do with some assault team members.  Yes I know that there are already heavy weapon guys, but I was thinking more along the lines of riot squad like full body shields.  Not like the clear ones used by real riot squads but a larger arm mounted version.  Something large enough to be able to effectively hide behind, but still able to walk with the thing attached to your arm.  Going to nerd out and reference the shields the hunters carry in halo, but, ridgid not hinged at the elbow and designed to dig the tip into the ground to provide an angled, deflective surface rather than an impact absorbing surface.  Obviously the body armor would be more than the regular troopers and the weapons would be heavier and more destructive.  Gauss rifles, plasma cannons, personal rocket launchers and the like.

Just a thought but it wasn't happy just living in my head, so there it is.

But then he'd have wizards and half-giants and owls all coming over unexpectedly.

They wouldn't be unwelcomed at my place so long as they brought food.

Our fingers are still crossed for you guys. :tears:

I think once these are based I might do a shot with all 24 of these things.

Wow, a year and three days since I started this thread.  It feels longer...

So these are the last of the Heresy figures I have for the cult.  I took these with my phone so they suck a bit.  I'll dig out the real camera for the finished shots.  The pics were taken right before I painted the mouths and teeth.  I'm happy with the way they came out, like the other two types, I wanted them to look like they could actually exsist in the real world.

There was something else I wanted to say at this point but it escapes me so on with the show.

Its been a second. I see no pics. I've probably stuffed up your posting now.  muahahahaha
Yes you did I was trying to preview when you posted this.

New pics comming up in a second!

Finally, it's been a long time getting here with these last eight slugs.  I started repainting the first four that I wasn't happy with first time, got all eight base coated, tried some highlighting, didn't like it at all, rebase coated, tried more highlighting, didn't like that either, too fecal looking.  So I stripped them down, reprimed tried a new color, with some highlighting, didn't like that either, so rebase coated them again yesterday.  Put on a second layer of the base today, then a bit darker glaze, then a darker wash then a reddish brown wash, then another light wash of the first glaze color, then a light highlight of the base color followed by a much lighter color for the belly/foot.  I think they look far better than first go, so long ago.  Now I need to get pics for here, then do the bases and get finished pics up in the gallery.

Not going to go with 6,750 in your stock then?

:lmao:  I thought about asking that, but felt I'd better refrain.  I had a good day today and didn't want to spoil it by being an arse. :silly

I'm getting it too. Ched said that he needs to do some serious maintenance to the site, but can't get the time.  That was about two weeks ago.

Use this link and it works fine, don't know why but it does.

MDF also contains formaldehyde, as another 'don't' if you're wondering.
