Libertee's Miscellaneous Musings II / Re: Things that make you happy
« on: February 19, 2013, 03:20:11 PM »
Gangrel, I was originally looking at an Asus transformer but, I got a chance to play with one and a samsung at the same time and the transformer pad had the speaker right where your right hand fits comfortably and the one I had in front of me was having a bad time connecting to a wifi signal that it considered 'good' strength.  Also, the asus disappeared from where I was going to get it, and I would have only been able to get one, and would have had to share.

Good call.  We both have android phones, and I use apples at work.  I'm not particularly impressed by apple products, sure they have great service at first, but I was trying to figure out something on my older ipod quite a while back and they wanted me to pay a crap load of money for phone support.  Bugger that!  I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling from apple.  Although they do sell a butt load of stuff every day.

I like referring to them as 40k-ven.  And just for shiggles I'd have a leader called Hämsterviel

That's right, I used to watch cartoons when I was a younger adult.  What of it? :lmao

Sorry, not trying to ruin this thread.  Just being myself.

Well after a long wait, far too long, my holiday bonus finally came through the other day.  Seriously, why should it take that long.  Oh well, I got a bonus, and the method I chose to recieve it in was tax free so I win.  So what I've done with it is order two Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" 16GB tablets.  One for me one for her so I don't have to share.  Now that I've waited two months for the bonus, I have to wait who knows how long for the tablets to arrive.  I just hope they get here before my road trip second week of March.

Got them cleaned up, head glued on and put on bases.  Still need to fill the gaps at the neck but need to wait for the glue to cure.

Little update, no pics yet.  I'll try and get some taken in the next couple of days.  The worms that I posted pics of already are now done, I think.  The greenish giant maggots have now got the completed base coat on them.  The other type has the base coat which took two layers like the other ones, and then two separate color glazes

Looking at your assembled pics, the fit of yours is far better than the one I got.  The join between the two top segments of the maggot body on mine was huge.

 Miscast?

Apologies to anyone about the scythe. Think i was trying to avoid a feeed going intot eh scythe head if it was one piece. or something. Years ago, now...

Whatever, I worked it out. 8)

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Re: Kickstarter?
« on: February 07, 2013, 03:40:43 AM »
Well, I finally voted.  I have had a hard time weighing in on this one but I voted for the fantasy game.  I was troubled because, one, I am not a gamer (at this time in my life), two I don't do sci fi.  However, I do feel that there is a need in the market for more fantasy miniatures games.  Not games like WHF where you need a million minis and ten million in cash for them, but for games that come in one box and can be played within minutes of opening the box.  Then when you are sorted on the rules and playing, you can expand to include more minis, new boards, quests and what not.

Part of why I had so much trouble was because, while I think that the sci fi troopers are great and generic enough to be used in multiple situations, that the industry is flooded already with sci fi soldier minis warring for your hard earned cash.  I'm not saying don't make any troopers, because they are obviously selling.  It's just I don't want to see them get washed away in the sea of genereic soldiers.  To date I've only backed one KS, and that was only because I wanted the limited edition mini they were offering and only at the minimum pledge for it.  Kickstarter as I understand it is a tool designed to be used by someone who has an idea for a game/product but they lack the funding to put it into production or to produce a working prototype, not to be used as a means for a huge corporation to get a ton of your money as fast as possible because they don't want to invest their own money in a project however it may turn out.

As long as I've been here and as long as I've been a customer of Heresy (admittedly not particularly long) there has been this thing lurking in the background called Netherhells.  I think that the time is coming soon to bring it to the front.  I've not read any of the rules that I can remember at this point but I know the need for the game is there.  I said earlier that I am not a gamer at this point in my life, but, I do plan on having kids and I do plan on playing games with them.  Right now in my current situation, I am a collector and painter only, but I want to be able to get back into fantasy gaming.  I used to play Mordhiem all the time, and have spent time last year aquiring many many minis for use in that game for the future.  I think that instead of producing a whole bunch of new minis for the game, that the current range, even if not all of it, could be written into the rules as characters, foes, random monsters, what ever.  Make new figures for the game of course, but maybe have them available separately as well.  I think that rules, boards, and all the other parts of the game should be the first order, then sort out the new minis.  Quality is the key here, I feel, not just in miniatures but in every aspect of the product.  Am I making any sense with this?

Regardless of direction, I would likely support because I do not want to see Heresy disappear.  I have voted for fantasy and I am sticking with it.  There's probably something else I wanted to say, but I can't think of it now so I'm off.

Years ago we used to joke about skaven in space with enormous orbital Habitrail colonies and starships powered by colossal hamster wheels.  I always wanted to make some 40k-ven but it never happened.  Good luck.

I've got a few, ok about 20 figs from Bronze Age, and I like them.  Maybe a tad roughish here and there but as I understand it they were some of David's earlier work.  I enjoyed painting them, even though they aren't my greatest work either.

Neither of my cats are allowed out.  One's stupid and gets cold, not to mention afraid of the wind.  The other, it wouldn't be fair and we don't want to bring home fleas.  Besides we didn't want to introduce more cats to the neighborhood gardens.
