I colored the skin of his fur undies a moldy skin color and washed it with a brown to make it dirty looking.  Same brown the fur itself was washed with.

Well, a bit late, but here is the finished troll before basing.  Proof that I've gotten a bit better since my pantstastic beginnings shown in the Old Paintjobs thread.  (little bit better anyway)

Came out slightly yellowish.  Hopefully final based photos will be better.

They don't look so yellow on my tablet.

Suggestions (HF) / More Ladies Built Like Tilda
« on: March 08, 2014, 12:05:27 AM »
Yes, I have two copies of Tilda.  No I haven't painted either of them.  But, I still think Kev should sculpt up some more ladies with Tilda's physique.  Not just more fantasy types, though prefered.  Survivors, modern spy types, civilians, sci-fi heavy weapon babes/trooper girls.  Rubenesque ladies need representation too.

And discuss.

I bet I can find some stuff that is just pants.  I'll use this post as my place holder until tomorrow, when I can try and dig out my very old GW Wood Elves.  Painted circa 1996-97 I think.  I know I've got you beat Gi6gers.  6 years ago, I would have been pleased with the work you've shown.  Even four years ago, I think.

Ok, here we go.  First, a little background.  These are from the first ever paint I ever put to a miniature.  I've gotten a little better since then.

I saw this thread last night, and thought, 'in what bizarre parallel universe is this the correct board for such a topic'

But that's totally useless for 28mm!  :silly

What scale do you guys like for 28mm? 1:48?

I think the general consensus is: whatever looks right for what you want.  In most cases I believe 1/48 works quite well.  I have a plan myself involving two trucks of that scale.

Besides, I could always argue that it has multiple interior levels.  Or that my 28mm minis have come to a world of giants.

Really want one of these, but cannot afford one when it is released.  To be limited to 1000 kits.  Projected retail price, between 120-150.  $183-$229 CAD by current exchange rate.  :grrr:
Sorry about the hugeness of the picture.

Here's a link with loads of build photos, all in German though.

Where'd you get the squid-bird?
Squird?  Birdopus?  Cephelobird?

I'm just going to voice my annoyance of the auto downloading installer for the trashware called Mobogenie.  Its apparently a file transfer/backup tool.  It automatically downloads from sites all over the web and is a rotter to get rid of on a PC.  Thankfully on my tablet, I just open the downloads folder, select it and delete the installer, without ever giving it a second thought.  It is really annoying thats all.  If I want a program like that, I will look one up and research it.  I don't want it crammed down my gob without knowing what it does.

Mobogenie, I curse thee!  And swat you like a gnat.

Stomped on through and finished him tonight.  Need to make the base for him now.  Should it be dirt or grass?  Kind o leaning toward grass at this point.

Luckily for you, I write all my mixes down.  Just in case.  All the paints are Reaper Master Series.  Which come in handy dropper bottles, as you may know.  All my color mixes are recorded in number of drops of what color.  Always thinned down with a bit of water.  The boots are base coated in Earth Brown, washed with Blackened Brown, then highlighted with, Earth, then a 50/50 Earth brown Leather Brown mix.  Then a last highlight with Leather Brown.  The brown on her trousers and the mooman's hair is base of 2 drops Chestnut Gold one of Chestnut Brown, first highlight of Chestnut Gold, last highlight of 2 drops Chestnut Gold one Palomino Gold.

Does that make any sense to you.  It did to me while writing it.

PS, the white of her trousers is Linen White, no highlighting.

I have gone with a reddish color for his 'garment'.  I don't know if I should take any more WIP pics or wait until finished, which is very close.

Hasslefree / Re: HF Volk and Luna
« on: March 01, 2014, 02:54:24 AM »
My approval they have, yes.  Luna is tiny!  I got her as a freebee in my last order because I ordered at night, HF time, then ordered again less than 8 hours later.  Mrs Black was kind enough to pop her into my order with a note saying she was there because I payed postage twice.

I'm trying to decide what to do with mine.  I really like your dark green and red trim.  Girl's ears are long.  They don't get lost in her hair.

I like Volk's tattoos and his cloak looks good from here.  Well done.

Haha.  I never noticed.  Just took what you said as a compliment. :lmao

Tear gas is not nice at all.

The point, I believe.  Never been near the stuff, but have known a couple people who have been in the same position as you.  They had the same level of enjoyment of it as you too.

Played with it a bit more.  Started painting the scaley-scabby bits, and now I quite like it.  Need to get another pic soon.
