Just had a look online.  Crankshaft assembly, which I think is the issue looks to be rather inexpensive.  I guess I won't know exactly what is broken until I take the engine totally apart.  Ugh, big job on a tiny scooter.

502
Put the rest of the parts I was waiting for into the scooter today.  Got it together enough to start the engine.  Knackered.  Noise I thought was a really worn belt is the engine.  That would explain the metal flakes I found.  New engine time.  Or serious repairs to this one.  Depends on what is less expensive.  There is also the same model of scooter for sale in the news paper, two years older, but everything is the same.  So it may be an option too.

Bugger.

especially the upcoming starwars movies  :?
Ever since I learned who bought star wars, I haven't been able to think of new movies without thinking about a song 'circle of sith'.  Thank you lion king.

Looks interesting but not going to get my hopes up.

Did manage to get the base color for their leathers done on all but two.  Time for sleeping now, so no pictures today.

506
They sort of disappear until they are painted.  Don't they.  Look cool in manky old brass though.

507
Ok here we go.

508
Hold your horses :hmmm

Got the brassy bits done.  There really aren't many.  Toes of their boots, skulls on their chests, and horns on those with helmets.  No pictures because nobody wants to see them.  Do they?

Excellent.  And totally different from what I've got planned for mine, so you don't have to repaint yours. :yup:

Seriously though, really loving the dress color.  Very rich and vibrant.  Also her hair is great too!

Approved!

That is looking excellent.  Love the visible vein.  Very life-like.

Thanks, Inso.

I may do the brass parts next, as there aren't going to be that many.  Also, I may do all the common colors before I do the skin.  That way, when I finish a skin tone, that guy is done.

I agree with the darker base.  I didn't have anything darker though.

514
You might need three. You'll see. ;)
Yes....master...

It occurred to me that I hadn't posted finished shots of the troll and his friend.  So here they are.

Avatars of War's Netherhound.  I had originally intended him for a mount but the mini I wanted to use was inseparable from her mount, which I didn't know until after I got it.  The highlights on the dog are really stark in these pictures.  They didn't look so in person.  I still haven't fully finished the base.  There are still little bits to fix, but I figured if I didn't post it now, I might not ever.

516
Rusty stuff done now.

Really like the aristocrat.
He makes me think of Lorne.  Couldn't put my finger on who he reminded me of.  Then it hit me, but I couldn't remember his name, so I looked it up.

Not sure they have official ones any more, it's nice getting toys as an unofficlal one though
How does one become an unofficial one?

Erm...not sure. I work on salute normally and send the odd paintjob to Artemis. If you see the standard of the stuff they share on facebook its way beyond me if I'm honest.
Beyond me too. :yup:

Anyway, ordered a master of Layla.  Misha may have to wait until metal release.  Scooter parts can be pricey.  And the exchange rate isn't in my favour.

Today I ordered what I hope to be the last of the parts I need to get my scooter back on the road.  Cleaned the carb today, didn't need it though.  Checked, cleaned and measured a few other things.  Hopefully, end of this coming week it will be ride time again.

I don't have any of my old paint-jobs left... they either got sold off or binned.
Good point.

524
I did get time.  I've gotten the first metalic layer down on all 7 brutes.

Any other participants? :whah?:  I'm fairly certain the only critical comments anyone will give are the ones you give to your own work.  I think this thread is a great way for someone to put their own improvement over the last however long into perspective.  Myself for example: I look at my old elves and think, wow what crap that is.  In the last 8 years I've genuinely tried to improve my skills, trying new paints, techniques, practice and pushing the edge of what I'm comfortable with.  Its working.  I sat back and took a look at my Hayden and Minotaur piece when it was finished, and thought, holy crud, that looks frackin good.  Now what would I do different next time?  You don't know if you can do something until you try.  If you fail, strip the paint and try again.

Inspirational speech over.  Any more takers?

Or did I waste my time?
