Messages - leadhead

No worries, LH, you've kept me going this year!

  8)

:blub:  It breaks my heart to say so, but I really must stop buying minis for quite some time.  I've way over extended myself this year and have spent a shocking amount of money on minis that won't get painted for a year or more.  Not to mention all the money I haven't yet spent on home repairs that need to get done before deep winter comes.

Sadly I cannot help you this time Andy, as much as I want some ghouls for my undead mordheim warband.

Best of luck with the sale.  I hope it adds up quickly.

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Female Ogre
« on: October 08, 2012, 02:55:52 AM »
I think Heresy, and the world for that matter needs a female ogre.  There aren't enough available.  Start with a fantasy one then make a deathball version.  I say this with the full understanding that it may never happen as I know you, Andy, actually have more than any 3 or more normal people can actually manage without screaming and running away.

That being said: Thank you for doing what you do, keep doing it, we will buy it.

I've asked the seller if there is anything on the base, but haven't heard yet.  And as it is still in Europe I can't look for myself.

Anybody know the maker of this horse/kangaroo thing?  I just bought it from someone on LAF.  I liked it because its sort of random and crazy.

But I won't get in the way and get smashed flat by the machine intelligence of positive progress.

Tutorials / Re: Stripping with Dettol (and Katy Perry)

I know that this thread hasn't seen any action in most of a year but I think that as long as there is a miniature hobby/industry this thread and others like it will remain valid indefinately.  Thus my reason for revival.

I just want to continue on what dragon has said about glue.  I've tried dettol watered down, and neat and prefer neat but the glue idea, I think, shouldn't be ignored.  It's much less labor intense than soapy scrubbing.  I tried it today on a couple figs and this is what I found.  One layer of glue isn't enough as it runs off of high points and when dry is not necessarily easy to see in some places.  So after giving the figs a dettol bath for a couple days to get the paint sludgy, I scrubbed them with a toothbrush in the det until all that was left was little finiky places.  That done, wipe off with a paper towel then coat with glue and let dry.  Now you can either do more coats of glue, or start picking.  What I tried was, more glue, let dry, then dunk in a jar of water as hot as comes out of the tap.  Let the jar stand until cool/cold then pour out your victim but don't loose him down the drain.  What has happend is the glue is now white, dry and maliable but tough enough to pick out with a pointed device and comes off metal like peeling dried glue off your fingers when you were a kid (don't lie and say you never did that).  The glue gets into most of the little gaps that didn't scrub clean and pulls the paint out leaving a 97% paint free figure.  Some paint is still visible in tiny places but thats ok, it's going to get repainted anyway, and the glue, I found, takes a lot of the dettol smell off as well.  The glue and hot water seemed to even help loosen the ancient hardened super glue making it pick off with but a little more effort than just the glue.  I have a number of other figs currently in the dettol bath with a couple more waiting and I think that I will continue to use this method for the forseable future.

One vote here for using dettol to strip painted minis, but I already voted so this one is moot.

I'm pretty sure that's a lady skellington*. Those hips are quite wide compared to the shoulders.

*Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Variety is the spice of un-life.

You're right about that, although they do have a betty page cheekyness that is finished off by the fact she looks like betty.

The new succubus by Reaper due out in Nov.  Right in line with my fav subject.

Finally a voluptuously curvaceous, gorgeous nudie demon lady. :boing:

Ludicrously good paint job too

Appologies to anyone offended by this but you were warned.

Yes... build a death ray. A pity it only works on ants though... no big plans for world domination then?

If it's big enough, and in orbit...

big bucks for a licence and then ignore the source material (like buying the film rights to a decent book then making a movie that bears no resemblance to the book beyond a couple of character names)

Eragon.  Got less than 10min in a couple weeks ago and said 'F this, none of this is right'

As for dwarves, don't care, not my interest area.

Cutrid.  When something is soo rediculously cute it is putrid, you get cutrid.  That's trademarked and copyrighted so no stealsies! :paranoid:
