A few years ago I resolved to stop lying to myself about how I was going to change in the New Year.

It's the only one I've ever managed to keep.

I would definitely buy these.

Unarmed modern civilians are a must-buy for me.  For the most part I need them to run away from (or cause complications in) Superhero battles, so "scared and cowering" fits the bill perfectly.

I can't be the only Jew here, can I?  I barely count.

It's worth noting that far from being a "Jewish Christmas" Hannukah is actually one of the least important festivals.  I'm purposely not using the word "holiday" here because it is not, in fact, a holy day (or series of days)- it's a commemoration of a secular military victory.

Wikipedia probably does a better job with the details than I would.

Edit:  With all that, I forgot to say how nice it is that you thought to post at all.  Cheers!

I used to believe experience and qualifications got people the job, but the addage "It's not what you know but who you know" rings true every time (nearly)

That didn't help this time, unfortunately.

Recommended for the job by a guy I knew
For a job working with guys I used to work with
doing what was essentially a job I used to manage people doing
interviewed by a guy I TRAINED at an old job

aaaaand, nothing.

Bah.

The bright side is this:  I left the IT world 8 years ago to go to film school.  Now that I'm done, if the only job I can get is back in IT... yeah.  So I will just try to view this as the universe telling me I need to pursue my film work harder instead of picking what really should have been low-lying fruit.

Really, really well-paying low-lying fruit.

Aerials- you could try stripping the wire out of a twist-tie.  Good, strong stuff that holds a shape well and is very thin.  Often overlooked.  I tend to use it for mounting servo-skulls so they appear to be floating.

The downside is it can be difficult/a pain to get them to look dead straight.

Very nice work on the tanks themselves, by the way.  I have been following the thread for a while and can't remember if I ever piped up to complement before, but it is great to see some rolling off the assembly line as it were.

I have a Christmas Ornament Munny hanging around here that I will be customizing as a gift for my mother- it will end up looking like an ornament I made about 30 years ago that my mother has always treasured.  I had to get my father to help me smuggle it out of and back into their basement so I could take reference photos!

Getting turned down for a job I am completely qualified for- while it still hasn't actually been filled.

Seriously, what's a brother gotta do to get a job around here?

« on: November 27, 2009, 06:58:25 PM »
I changed broadband to talktalk which was fine until there was a problem and they refered us back to BT as they own the physical line. BT charged to fix the problem and it took 3-4 days.
I don't know if it is the same with all companies but I think they all end up reffering you back to BT and since switching back any problems have been fixed straight away.

Wow.

In a former life, I used to monitor and repair high-volume telecommunications circuits (including BT, Telecom Italia, Deutsch Telekom, Eirecom, and so on).  The fact of the matter is that to reach the end customer the internet provider does always have to buy circuit bandwidth from a physical provider (usually the biggest telecom provider in the area) but it's really the responsibility of the company you're purchasing internet service from to pursue repair issues with their physical layer providers.

In other words, you pay talktalk and they subcontract to BT- you aren't BT's customer and they shouldn't even talk to you about issues on the line, nor should talktalk be putting you in the position of trying to motivate their providers for repair.  It's one thing to TELL you that they have to talk to BT because the problem is on their end- but making you call BT yourself to affect repairs is bush league, unprofessional nonsense.

A long shot.  Years (20?) ago I saw an Australian film examining the nuclear tests carried out there in aboriginal lands.  It seems it had a title of only one or two words, but I can't recall it.

Road Warrior?
