Libertee's Miscellaneous Musings II / Re: Things that make you happy
« on: February 05, 2013, 05:40:05 PM »
After a long break things are moving with my thesis film, and I have a meeting with a very talented editor tomorrow morning about cutting it.  He's agreed to the project in principle after reading the script, so I fully expect to have a post-production plan by tomorrow night.

Hurray!

Nice one
Can we get to see it anywhere ?

Even better than stills, I finally sorted out albums full of behind-the-scenes shots on my professional FB page!

I am extremely excited for Saturday.  Good to see all the old Daleks back... it's as if they realized the new design wasn't, umm, a fan favorite.

It's entirely possible- unfortunately one of the costs of hiring professional actors is that I can't just pop it on YouTube without paying them, but I'll be sending it to pretty much any festival I think might show it- and since it has a comic book angle, that includes comic conventions and so on.  I certainly won't be shy about promoting it...

...of course, it will take a couple/three months to get through post-production, anyway.

Maybe I can manage to get some stills or something.

Yesterday I wrapped principle photography on a short film I wrote and directed.  Not only is it always pleasing to get to do what I do (as it were), but I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude for the support I received from friends, industry contacts, and even complete strangers who donated their time and resources to bring my little story to life.

I'm a very lucky man.

My understanding was that the third movie isn't actually part of The Hobbit, but is made up of bits feom Tolkein's writings that cover the gap between The Hobbit and Fellowship.

I sold a painting for five hundred pounds. I was only looking ninety for it but the guy fell in love with the painting.

Well done sir!

Someone with a fairly large part in a currently released (in the US, anyway) film is auditioning for a part in my short.  It's extra good news for me, as it solves the problem of finding a decent child actor.

Here's a tip from you to me:  Never write a film that stars a child.

The more I see the miniatures grouped together (here, on FB) the more Hamlet looks like part of the spec ops team.

Looking good Kev, so has this given you enthusiasm for antropomorphic scoob?

Seriously, I would love to see one armed and armored similar to Smudgster (b).

How did I miss that! BG II I thought was better than the first. Which is saying a lot because the first was awesome. Really long games too which makes it good. Minimal additions doesn't sound too much like an "enhanced edition"

Well, it does collect the expansion pack and gives us a new party member and a new quest (no doubt involving that party member), plus an "enhanced" engine and a new score.  Perhaps I was uncharitable when I said "minimal additions"- just nothing that reinvents the wheel and would take forever.

I'm guessing we'll see it in Q3 though, since "summer" is already on us and they are being vague about release dates.

I imagine it will be a loooooooooooooooooooooong time away though since they only really started Feb or March this year and there's not even much up on that site. I hope it gets finished. I also hope they keep it isometric. I still love those games. As long as it has the same story line it should be great.

It says summer 2012.

From the look of the screenshots, they're just porting it and making a new interface for iPad/OSX with fairly minimal additions.  It shouldn't take that long!

It better not, anyway.  I never finished BGII, and I would love to start over at the beginning and play both...  it's my fondest RPG videogaming memory.

That Beast is awesome, I've been meaning to post forever to say.  I really learned about the X-Men from the 90's cartoon (I was in college), so that incarnation was always my "basic" Beast.

Goliath is coming out great so far as well.  Which Goliath is that?  Pym?  Barton?  Foster?

I like the MUULs but I'm blown away by the troops.  At first glance I thought they were 28mmout for scale!

b) So are you saying that because the one pack made two years or so ago is slightly different to the 100 possible packs to follow, you won't buy the 100?

I'll take your question at face value and assume you're gathering information for business purposes, and take the time to answer you:  yes.  It will make further purchases from the line less likely for me.  I have 16 "standard" troops, which is honestly enough bodies for my purposes, and I would rather convert existing troops to carry other weapons and maintain uniformity than spend more money on troops that don't match.

If some folks are able to rationalize mismatched equipment, that's fantastic, but it doesn't work for my purposes.

Sorry to drive the thread further off-topic but since I do like Andy, and Heresy, and want both to succeed, I wanted to give him whatever info might help.

...well, two at least! I say new because a) they're new and b) there are some revisions to the original releases I think eg helmets are bigger (and now have sculpted seams to enhance the idea of the helmet having a cover).

So, the standard troops I bought when they first came out won't match any further releases?

Great paint job, and thanks for the heads-up (no pun intended).
