Starship Troopers - Robert A. Heinlein. The movie, IMO, was rubbish. The book, rocks.
Quite enjoyed the movie - as long as you stop trying to compare it to the book it's pretty hilarious at times.
I have a hard time doing that unfortunately. I sometimes avoid movies based on books that I really enjoyed because I know that scenes in the book I like may be omitted, changed and/or butchered. I understand that sometimes it is necessary to make changes when a book is made into a move, but I don't even think they
read Starship Troopers before they even made it into a movie. Some of my nit-picking includes:
~There was no love story. Carmen was only in the beginning when they signed up, and then toward the end when Juan was in OCS
~What happened to the power Armor? The one man wrecking team? The dude that could take out an armor company?
~The father / son tension between Juan and his father and their reconciliation.
~The final scene where they are getting ready to drop, and the exchange between Juan and his Sargent (Name avoided as to not spoil it for those who haven't read it).
~There are many more, but I those are some of the biggies.
