Black Scorpion / Re: Marines
« on: June 12, 2008, 12:26:12 PM »
OK, not knowing much about the history of he marines or royal marines, I'll chip in with what I do know!!

As keeper points out the paint has gone shiny, despite a coat of matt varnish so I'm rather annoyed at my efforts this weekend. Thankfully I completed something decent last night.

I probably forgot to say that if you shake your can of varnish *really* well - Toosh recommended to be until my arm is ready to fall off - then re-varnish, they should come out just fine and matt.  This usually happens because the varnish is not mixed properly and you're not spraying out enough of the "matt-ness". Please excuse the technical phrasing ;)

Ah, now SMF (whatever that is) cannot connect to the database. I suppose that's a sort of improvement if something's changed.

Just a quick answer, in case you didn't know...

SMF - "Simple Machines Forum" - is the software the Custom Hobby (amongst others [sic]) uses for his forum.  If the software cannot connect to the database, then as gi6ers says:

It am broked

Now they are ace! :D  I'll be ordering as soon as I've been paid!

General Ranting / Re: 4th edition D&D.
« on: June 10, 2008, 04:30:01 PM »
Well, ive just had my 3.5 rulebooks come through the postbox (only ever played like half a session before so im a bit of a newb). Once im done learning that though ill probably give 4E a shot. A lot of people seem to like first edition but after reading the wiki it seems that would be a bit alien to me. Since all my expereience comes from playing BG, IWD etc with THAC0 and whatnot.

Depends if you like tables and alignment languages   The random dungeon generator has never been surpassed ... *disappears in a puff of nostalgia *

You're welcome ;)

No base is fine by me, just as long as you release her.   :D

Also, it's been bugging me for ages who the monk reminds me of, and i've finally figured it out... He reminds me of the guy in the golden helmet from an old Sinbad movie staring Tom Baker.

Now you've said that, Tasker, he remind's me of Tom Baker's Rasputin in the file Nicholas and Alexandra.

General Ranting / Re: Foundry Price Increases. It's so depressing...

Try livin' Stateside and being a mini-Anglophile, strung-out-addicted Heretic!!  piss weak American dollar, economy takin' a nosedive, and metal prices throught the roof.

Singin' the blues.  Sigh.

Try to take comfort in the fact that I as a Brit, I can now afford a couple of Dark Sword minis, if I want! ;)

Unless I've got a particular gaming need, I'm far more likely to buy from Dark Sword than from Foundry.

Great work, once more, Bulldog!!

It was great to say we watched the eventual super bowl winners that season. I wonder if the visit to the U.K will do the same for one of this years teams.

It is a bit of a upside/downside moment - If you win in London, you can win the Superbowl.  If you lose ... well, you get the 1st round draft pick, at least ;)

The Pats are obviously going to have another Perfect Seasons ;)
Not if they play my Giants  GO BIG BLUE!!!!

We're only playing in the last pre-season game, at the end of August.  You have to get to the superbowl again, if you want to meet us, there ;)

Announcements and News / Re: 12 sets of CAD guns!
« on: June 06, 2008, 02:05:58 PM »
Those are brilliant, Sally :)

I've only three comments, and all of them are website related!

1) #7 doesn't seem to be listed for sale? Is that right?
2) It doesn't seem to be clear from the subcategory page how many of each you're buying?
3) #11 seems to have the picture twice: here

But the guns look really, really, really good!!!  And four of the bigger guns for £1.50 seems excellent!!

the not scobbys and the gang are great, you still need to work on the eyes though.

I agree.  Except for Wolsey, where googly eyes seem appropriate, somehow :D

Bigger irises, grek! :)  Most people's irises do not have white all around - use a mirror for reference to see what I mean ;)

I am neither agreeing or disagreeing with anyone, but we're straying into politics on this thread, and we don't want it locked, now, do we?

too much tv time ...... we need to work more and watch less optical media

Quick Kev claim its research for a new figure.

I don't think a like of not-Big Brother 9 figures is going to go down too well ... although we don't know who is in the house, yet!

Are they going to be for sale from Custom Hobby in the future?

Stuff like this can be used in so many ways.  Pulp, Darkest Africa.  Any plans to create little "fillers" like this for yourself?

You missed out my use for them - Stargate ;)

Do you think AP will make 2000 yards this year?  I think that will be a bit ambitious unless he's looking to pick up another injury!

But as for going all the way - no chance! The Pats are obviously going to have another Perfect Seasons ;)

Well, my mate applied but we haven't heard anything yet!

We're guessing that we might not get any this year, as we had to admit we went last year when we applied - but we've not given up hope, yet!

Still, if the rumours of the Chargers being interested in Jason Taylor are true, at least he might get to be there two years in a row ;)  The Chargers haven't really done much trading this off season, but then they were pretty good last year :D

It recently came to my attention that not everyone who plays wargames or paints toy soldiers is familiar with Larry Leadhead.  So to help fix this:

someone say barbarian? Ryan want see barbarian now

Ryan look forward to learn first person pronouns ;)

I can live with that, I'll give him a stern face and pretend that he's mildly chaotic at weekends

Well, now you've taken on a mildly chaotic dwarf as a lodger, you'll have some reference material, gi6ers :D
