Announcements and News / Re: How to get yourself a free mini (or two)...
« on: October 04, 2007, 10:32:24 AM »
Just Hasslefree by the sound of it; Andy already has his sale on.

@Debs - is this offer for the period of the 48 hour strike or does it cover the whole of the action (including rolling strikes) - I took it to mean the latter (gets glint in his eye about free mini..)

It is definitely just HF orders.

It will apply until they announce that the rolling strikes have finished.  this way as different parts of the country are striking at different times we should get it covered.

So yes...bit of a bonus for you guys and our way of doing damage limitation for the blooming annoying situation at Royal Mail ...which btw has tripled our postal outgoiongs in the last year.

You mean that your postage costs are three times what they were last year?  That's outrageous!  :tantrum:  Unless you've tripled your sales, of course.

The vortex was scarey when I was 7 years old!  :whaaa:

Me too! It was a salutary lesson for adult life though! (except few bosses are potted house plants...)

Very true - but I've know a few bosses who could be validly compared to potted house plants ... ;)

Not that this is a bad thing, but they're just empty dice boxes, aren't they?

No not a problem at all!! Sorry Sally, I didn't mean it to sound like criticism.   I think they are loverley!

I can see that they require some kind of non-standard base, and I just wondered if any of the guys on here who make such a good job of their custom bases had any ideas that I could steal?

I don't think you need to include flying stands for all of them - and you certainly don't need to send me any.  It might be worth a note on the page, if you think it might bother other people, though, as most minis you sell come with bases?

I'm deeply sorry if I've caused you concern about this :(

Got my Red Mawes in this morning's post and they are lovely!!! :D  I completely understand Sally's need to push them around the desk, going "Rarrrr!" at the same time, now!

I have only one question - there is a flying base supplied for one of them, but nothing for the other two, so has anybody got any cool basing suggestions for these guys, please?

we had a problem trying to find bases big enough for these guys...we did look around and even looked into getting some commissioned but cost took over as a factor.  The flying base goes with the leaping one but i can supply two more of these if you want ...just say and i shall pop them in the post.

Shall i include a flying base with each of them just to give the customer an option even if they dont use them??

An easy enough oversiight to make, Phil, since we're talking about stuff we do for fun :D

So, what else has Kev sculpted as a result of a forum suggestion?

I just thought it was bad form to attach someone's real-life name to their avatar, in a forum where it isn't the norm, unless they're doing it themselves

I guess my comment was rather indirect.  Sorry Kev and Mike.  From Dave ;)

I think that that is a good idea, but more than that, I think most of us would like to mean these ladies in 1:1 scale ;)

Important question: is Haela's axe arm separate?

If it's separate then I'm very interested, if it's not then I'm still willing but less so. Does anyone else think she looks like a dwarf stripper about to start a routine? :)

I don't want to play in your world, Balgin.  I think I'll stick to mine today!

I think I can see what you mean now you mention it, but I really wouldn't have thought of that  :D

Plasti-cote.  That's the one I use, but can never remember the name of, even when I'm holding the can in my hand!  Thanks Bulldog :)

So using this stuff causes memory loss? Guess I did ask for nasty ingredients

No, the malt whisky causes the memory loss.  Inhaling spray-varnish fumes in enclosed spaces triggers asthma attacks (which are not at all funny :().  Always use sprays outdoors, from upwind and in dry conditions.

Still, I keep telling myself I've got a better life expectancy than these idiots: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/6523197.stm

Thanks CH, I might do that.  A couple of the girls are nearly finsihed.  I went to take photos last night, but the batteries are flat in the camera ...  :tantrum:

I'll get there eventually, though, I promise! :D

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Re: Colleagues of Dr Hugh.
« on: October 01, 2007, 11:26:14 AM »
I'm sure someone else has already suggested this, but I do think a few mini's to go with Doctor Hugh McCrimmon would be good. His predecessor in the job, Doctor Hugh Northern, for example. A teenage assistant and a medical student. Perhaps the new Prime Minister, Mr. William Norman.

My Dr Hugh is going to have an assistant based on one of the copplestone cavegirls.  Not exactly canon, I know, but then neither is Dr Hugh ;)

On a totally unrelated note, how about soldiers from a military (koff) unit (koff) set up to protect Earth from alien invasion? I've seen similar stuff elsewhere, but that had 70's equipment. Something more modern would be useful, with body armour, H&K G36 assault rifles, and maybe a choice of helmets or berets.

When I first read this I thought you'd written "maybe a choise of helmets or breasts".  So I'd like to add that to the list of choices, please. :D

Of course, there is a whole selection of modern soldiers out there in the Big Wide World, so maybe Andy won't feel the need to sculpt these. :(
