I can't believe that people talk about stuff like this as if it is real .

Surely any form of conspiracy within a fictional universe could only ever be considered a plot diversion?

Those look the business :). Great stuff :).

@leadhead - the one on the left immediately made me think of spider man... so I ended up getting one just to do this:

Looks great :)

I decided on coloured washes over silver for mine but also went for contrasting colours.

I am NOT officer material :)... sculpting commissions.

My absence is due to Work commitments, my son getting his papers through to join the RAF (and needing the support to get him up to scratch for his interviews/fitness test/aptitude test), commission commitments and my inability to sleep at the moment... which all add up to me having to reign in some of my usual habits and focus on a few important ones that NEED to be focused on.

Internet surfing will be the thing to take the hit (it is a time sink and takes me away from real life stuff) until things get sorted out.

So nothing sinister and hopefully, I'll get some stuff finished and that will help me sleep (as will not looking at a PC screen all the time ;) ).

I am going to fade away for a while.

It won't be for too long and there is nothing sinister behind it.

The UDoD13 will still be happening so updates to the rules etc will happen when they are due.

See you on the flip side .

My Blog will be updated every Sunday, as usual.

Yep, one is closed face and one open (plus there's the CC variety).

What is it made of? Is it pottery?

That's some nice attention to details there Inso

I thought the Cog Insignia would be a Company design and would sit on the right knee pad, in regards towards platoon and rank i was considering shoulder pads (but some shoulder pads are partially covered and offers challenges in applying them properly).

The Sergeant i had in mind was http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=halla~hfg213&category=miniatures~grymn-light-infantry with her  SMG swapped out for a Pulse Carbine.
Maybe also adding http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=knut~hfg302&category=miniatures~grymn-specialists to the Squad to add some visual muscle.

Those two sound like a plan :)

Are you going to chop Halla's head off and give her a helmet too?

I use markings on the helmets for my urban troops. The first link is how I mark the regiment/squad/platoons (Except now, instead of putting the platoon number on the regiment symbol, I put it before the squad number on the opposite side of the helmet):

This is how I mark up rank (keeping it very simple without the need to paint fiddly chevrons):

Here are painted examples:

Little markings on miniatures really make a difference and there are decals out there that make it relatively simple (if you are prepared to hunt them down).

My advice would be to use decals if you can (to keep everything the same), use bold, simple symbols and don't go too mad with it :)

waiting for things to settle at Heresy HQ

:metoo:  But I'm waiting for the new Mullet, as well as more pics of your paint slathering.  I wish I had as much time for painting as you seem to, Inso.

I make time. I am an insomniac so I get time in the night to paint... and I don't sit and watch TV/play computer games so I use that time constructively (unless I am too tired... then I internet all the time).

Think about rank insignia as well as unit insignia.

Note the helmeted sergeant in the HI set has sergeants three stripes on the back of his helmet, but it's the only one.

It also has the enviro-pack and hoses so may well be inappropriate for this particular unit.

In other news... the transport is really taking shape. The hull is practically done so I am in the process of adding details and drive systems... and I'll need to do quite a bit of filling too.

I am just waiting for things to settle at Heresy HQ for some more troops to arrive and I'll crack on with them too.

It's all ticking along nicely :)

Yep it's Grim.

...and two Grymn, not two Grymns.

As far as I know.

Nice :)

Those bases are a bit more detailed than mine and they work for me :)

I get a lot of comments about my boring bases but when it all comes down to it... deserts are boring and featureless... I suppose you could put some rubbish on them (old cans, news-papers etc) because the deserts I've been to usually have that sort of stuff all over them... maybe a lizard or two... but deserts are mostly sand and rocks and quite boring.

Is there a link you could provide?

It is often easier to understand what the suggestions are if there are pictures to accompany the suggestion :)

There is very little worse than a child's funeral... it isn't just the tiny coffin that rips your guts out, it's the parents grief as well... and the grief around the room.

The one I went to was my good friend's son who hadn't reached two before he was claimed... and that was less than two weeks after my own son was born. I felt so guilty that I wasn't going to attend but I talked to my friend and he wanted me there. To this day, I know it was the right choice to go but it still makes me tearful to remember the event.

I can fully understand how difficult it must be to get something like a child's funeral arrangements 'just right' and it isn't a job I'd ever choose to do.

Dr Horrible's sing along blog is a bit of a stretch though... I had no idea who Dr. Horrible was until I Googled it (I thought it was something from a Disney Cartoon or something).

I guess that Kev would know what you were talking about (because he's already sculpted a 'homage' to one of its characters) but I had no Idea what the characters were refering to, even by their proper names.

I can understand the wish for Hit Girl and the rest but I'd rather see more of Kev's original work than 'not' characters... but I guess they pay the bills (and judging by the amount of Harbys that I sold at Salute, 'not' miniatures do sell well).

I suppose it is similar to superhero miniatures. I'd rather have generic supers to paint how I want than 'not' characters like Wolverine or the Thing etc.

But I guess it is all horses for courses.

The Colouring-in Room / Re: Shipping Container
« on: May 07, 2013, 12:51:56 PM »
These are excellent containers :) Nice job indeed!

I have to ask though... I have seen lots of people trying to get hold of AT43 containers and many others asking about available containers out there... and I am curious as to why so many people are specifically after this sort of container? Are there specific rules in certain games for them or is it just that people like cargo containers? Like I said, I have no other reason for asking, other than idle curiosity :)

Suggestions (HF) / Akula style Grymn
« on: May 07, 2013, 10:02:57 AM »
Kev, you know the three human troops that you sculpted for Akula? Well, they would look really good in Grymn form. I have obviously encouraged Akula to get some Dwarf troops for his project but have been told that they aren't on the menu... so please could you consider sculpting some for HF.

Failing that, the human, modern troopers would look cool in Grymn form with suitable weapon changes (not to the sci-fi weapons but more appropriate 'smaller' weapons).

Failing that... Grymn in standard combats with webbing.

Just a thought :)

If you are anything like me... an army starts at a hundred :).

I will be posting these off as soon as I get the opportunity but it is likely to be next Saturday morning. I'll let you know when I post them :).

...and Snailracer, once you open your parcel and scratch your head, I will send you a link to explain everything :D... The secret weapon is, of course, utterly devastating :)
