Well so far as metals go 90% have come out almost mint just from the dettol mix as suggested at the beginning of the thread then left in hot water with washing up liquid and then minimal scrubbing.

I have found that the water and washing up liquid turns the paint from gooey mush into a rubbery skin like membrane that lifts away really easily. In the cases where there is still a bit of paint, which quite often isn't a lot, I use a cocktail stick to ease it out.

Plastics are typically more difficult to get the paint off. I don't know whether this is because the bond between the paint and the surface is much tougher and therefore harder for the dettol to get in between or just me imagining things! However I tend to do the dettol-dip, washing up liquid dip, scrub technique twice.

Not found anything getting brittle as such yet. Discoloured yes, but often only another shade of gray - sometimes with a hint of what was on it before but as others have said, once painted you wont see this.

Has anyone tried this on resin yet?

Right, at the moment I am looking to base up some miniatures that are on circular ply 20mm bases with magnets for their movement trays. I know that HF do the base bottoms this size and I am intending to order some of those but what is the best material to put on the movement tray?

Sounds like a really dumb question but until now I have never magnetised miniature bases and I intend to do the same to some box files to act as storage.

Why don't you ask him if you can purchase some sort of licence agreement from him to use his formula? Perhaps even to deal with British commissions etc?

Seems a while since I have been on here but have been watching your facebook updates for a while with these.

Troopers would instantly get my backing for a KS - no doubts.

In terms of the trooper options you are thinking and asking about my thinking is that ideally the basic box set contains your bog standard squadies. Basic weapons, kit and kaboodle. I would then use the plastic set as the basis for conversion or additional parts sets. So that for me is where the backpacks come in. Perhaps even casting them in resin or trollcast type materials.

I say that because not everyone will want backpacks and the more basic the troopers are in some aspects, the better. That way you can make accessory packs of heads, weapons and other additions that people could buy in conjunction with the plastic sets.

Depending on how many you manage to squeeze onto a sprue I would also consider selling as a seperate sprue as well, perhaps as a 'fire team'. Then you can have 'fire team'(affordable to kids with pocketmoney), squad and then platoon sized sets.

It then also opens up things like support weapon teams. One sprue with metal or resin parts to make up a couple of support weapons. Or comman squads, one sprue with the addition of parts such as a long range communications specialist and officer etc.

It really plays upon the flexibility of the basic plastic set and means less outright full figure sculpting in the future and allows you to spend time on sculpting really nice characters and special units to support the plastics.

That's just my wild mutterings on it though. I do think these could be a winner. I really like your troopers and think they could be a hit.

Personaly I don't think a turn based system giving priority to characters or creatures with a higher AP is a good idea.

Perhaps take it in turn to activate a character at a time?

When you say 'fastest' are you talking in terms of speed of movement or speed of thought?

Oh an a late addition - seated characters for vehicles, drivers and passengers.

I have a nice little collection of vehicles but not models to put in them as drivers. And I can't seem to find many examples out there that will work for a post apoc/sci fi setting.

I know you already have plans for gangs etc - just thought I would throw another one out there - 'raiders' in the style of the wasteland types in the computer game 'Rage'.

Post apocalyptic types, punks with tatoos and war paint, maybe the odd kilt. Improvised weapons, basic simple weapons and the odd scavenged assault rifle etc.

Maybe a couple of mutie special types as heavies etc.

A real rough and ready crowd.

I might add one to an order this evening.

It's going to take a lot for me to do one let alone 2,3 or 4. Especially to a standard that would be worth you guys wanting to cast.

I would feel guilty ordering more and having them still sitting there unworked upon once the competition closes.

For some inexplicable reason I have a strange desire for a not-constantine style miniature to add to the APEX investigators.

That and some armed side kicks. I know most are carrying pistols but I was thinking a couple with SMG's just to add some firepower to the team.

The constantine chap would look with a larger pistol too, maybe a Desert Eagle?

Thinking about it and on some of the other comments. Why not do them the same way as the trenchies? Some stock characters and some with alternative hands with weapon options.

Some could be lightly armoured even. Perhaps ex soldiers or having thrown on grandpas old chest plate.

This way they would also appeal to mordheim players as well as rpgs etc.

clean shaven Penguin here, but i think you may have a point.

No beard hear either. An angry mob armed with pitch forks, torches and other medi-evil improvised weapons woukd have many uses.

I have wanted to do a zombie survival game set in history or fantasy and they would be great. Not to mention act as local militia or as peasants for the peasants revolt.

Norwich had an amazing revolt where the locals raided the city ceveral times over led by Kett. Its quite intriguing.

Right. I plan to drive down and I currently have a spare seat in my car. So is there anyone in the Norwich area that would like a lift?

All I ask is for a share of the parking fee and petrol money. The parking is no more than 20, not sure on the petrol but we can work that out on the day. I only have a little old clio so its not a fuel guzzler. Still got to be cheaper and more reliable than train!
