A Samnite tailor forced into the gladiatorial arena.

A man running out of time.... but it looks like he is waiting for the pub to open to toast the gurkhas.

And this one looks a bit like Kev with hair.

Ever wanted to help design and create a new science fiction wargame universe with Rick Priestley? Well now you can.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2037958218/beyond-the-gates-of-antares

Beyond the Gates of Antares is a brand new science fiction wargame universe from Rick Priestley - the creator of the Warhammer 40,000 game universe - and YOU!

We know we're doing something a little different from the other table top guys, and hats off to them for wisely using Kickstarter in a way that's works for them. Kickstarter can be utilised in many different ways, and one of the ways is to get new ideas off the ground that wouldn't normally get the chance, which is what our kickstarter is all about.

We’re here so that we can see if you are interested in not only backing us to fund the project but also if you’re interested in helping us develop the game rules, artwork, miniature range, tactical abilities, scenery, vehicles and everything else. We already know much of the initial design and we want to work with a unique set of enthusiasts with the vision to fund it and help us make it the best wargame experience that exists.

Simply put: we NEED you!

Forum to keep FOD free from chat... :paranoid2:

some Kev miniatures being sculpted.... and Andys scifi troopers will fit in very well.

I wonder if Andy could tweak his gang members to fit too.

General Ranting / Motorbikes and miniatures

Looking at sci-fi and modern figures, and suitable bikes.

For those of you that ride - what sort of bike would Andys trenchers ride in the real world?

Not a question of just what would look good, but what would be practical with them wearing their long lightweight coats.

I was looking at them and wondering how easily the long coats could get caught in moving parts like chains etc.

The closest thing in real life I have found are MODs and their parkas, the scooters have enclosed engines and drive chains etc so the long coats are less likley to get tangled up.

Any one any other suggestions for types of bike?

Would button up tails on the long coats help with normal bikes?

Questions and Answers / Police decals?
« on: November 20, 2010, 05:24:30 PM »
I wanted some decals for an Auxiliary Police unit, so I approached someone who made something similar and asked

would these be of use to anyone else... I am thinking of people doing the Hasslefree police.

If they are he might add them to the range.

Blue diamond is a police badge with the centre left blank so you can decorate it for your force of choice.

Any other comments?

Just to confirm even though it is not on the website.... the plans and posters at Derby indicate that RAI made an offer too good to be ignored.

I believe it is at Savilles Hall which are the conference facilities opposite Royal Armouries Museum

Larger.... one big room, supposedly better lighting.... supposedly easier access for traders.

Hasslefree... there..... game there.... come along and play.. dump your bags under the game table and go shopping.

Take part in the game... if you survive you might get a bonus...

Dear All, The Government intend to remove the BFPO system as a defence cut!
If only some of the Government have seen some Military Service!  They really don't have a clue of what they are doing to discipline and morale within the armed forces!  Having spent nearly 40 years in the British Military and travelled all over the world, I can assure you that getting your mail is one of the most essential things that have a direct effect on morale and peace of mind of of our service men and women, it is essential that you know your are  not forgotten and that your loved ones are OK, news from Home is so important.  The Government put our Military into harms way to do their bidding; they then remove the British BFPO Service!  Personally, I believe the Government should go before they remove the BFPO system!   If you haven't done it before, please petition the Government to scrap this plan. Thanks for your support

This is scandalous!   Please sign the petition below. Though we all understand that defence cuts are to be made, this is an area which affects the families in particular. The BFPO system is the mechanism whereby post is received by our serving soldiers and their families abroad at a postal address recognised as being part of this country, no matter where in the world they are serving, even in war zones.  Amongst other things this disenfranchises them if they are postal voters; some credit card providers will not send cards abroad (M&S for example) whereas they will to a BFPO address; it may affect their ability to let their house whilst posted abroad, or away from home; it may take away their tax advantages such as being able to have an ISA whilst posted abroad. It will affect Open University students who have a BFPO address as they will be charged
higher fees; it will potentially effect children of serving soldiers when they go to University, as they may not be eligible for student loans/fees to be paid, and will be charged higher fees as they live abroad. They will also be charged different rates for subscriptions etc as they will now have to come via local mail, and not the UK mail.

Please forward this email to as many of your friends as you can.

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Future cops
« on: August 03, 2009, 11:21:23 PM »
OK.... I have been thinking about something that could be quickly and easily put out by Andy.

Future cops

based on casts or the greens of these:

perhaps a flak jacket/vest and some of the smg's or Assault rifles for the police to defend the population against the gang members.

the baseball cap and boot of the existing could work well.... the range could be expanded if they go well.

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Mass Combat backgrounds
« on: December 05, 2008, 10:41:55 PM »

I have the universe fairly well sketched in my head, it's a question of timescale though - the one i was originally aiming to do was at the end of the Terran Empire, shortly after we got all but wiped out by a single alien race with technology we could only dream of. Mankind was scattered in small colonies, the occasional city on a remote planet, mainly as the dregs of intergalactic society, working in kitchens on space stations, as bounty hunters, mercs, that sort of feel. But then I lose the chance to do all the cool human tech we all want to see - so i thought, take it back a bit to before the end of the Empire, when we were kicking ET's ass on a score of fronts and not bothering to learn the local language when we took over their planets or enforced trade agreements on them. Maybe around the time when things were just starting to go wrong - supply lines breaking down, revolutions in far flung colonies, wars of independence, alien infestations, corruption, etc. So You can have an army that's fully equipped or slightly more shambolic. Maybe they are stuck with outdated robots or haven't been resupplied for some time. maybe their maintenance hasn't been up to spec and the cyborgs are all kaput except for one or two. Maybe you want to do a 'golden age' army when the ground shook beneath the alloy feet of walkers carrying squads of Genetically Modified supermen (nicknamed 'GM Joes' by regular troops)to crush the quivering tentacles of the enemy, and men soared in jetpacks like birds to rain death form above in a very personal manner. Maybe you want hordes of robots, attack craft and drones, or lots of artillery. Or maybe you just want to see those weary, cynical veterans awaiting their inevitable death and passing the time by getting wasted and intimidating the new guys.

To start with, I'll be doing all the generic stuff that should fit into people's existing armies - lightly armoured troopers and heavily armoured troopers - then I'm thinking a merc unit, some bikers (in 15mm only, most likely, unless demand is there for 28mm after seeing the design) then Cyborgs and GM Joes. I 'd like to have a bash at some walkers of some sort, along the lines of the Matrix ones, or maybe something more Japanese in style, with a more armoured look. The United Earth Coalition has many influences - I'll probably mainly be doing the New British Empire to start with (you could of course paint them as other stuff but that's how I'll be thinking of them.) but as in real life there'll be multi-national input in terms of vehicles and things at the very least.

If anyone wants me to elaborate on the history or demise of the Terran Empire, let me know. It might be a lot of typing.

Yes please... I have a background worked out for my stuff.

More ideologies and companies than nations.

Spyglass and Eolith Miniatures Discussion / Spyglass suggestions?
« on: October 31, 2008, 12:45:08 PM »
Ok I have been thinking... yes I know its a rare occurrence.. but I have.

What suggestions would people have for a nice figure or 4 for Steve to do for Spyglass.

I think Fantasy as that seems to be Steves preferred genre.

GW fans.... is chaos the new black?

I have had a look and there are no Chaos Beastmen now.... there used to be.... could this be an idea for Steve to do? Can they be used as an alternative army?

Chaos without the spikey bits?

I would suggest:

Chaos Beastman leader: as part of the ultimates range
Chaos Beastman standard bearer with separate standard
Chaos Beastman musician

Chaos Beastman warrior with seperate head and right arm and shoulder armour.
A couple of weapon variants with shoulder armour cast on so you don't get that problem, and mix and match heads.. sold in a pack of 4

Steve how long would it take you to do one figure for comments?
