Sneak Peeks / Instagram WIP pics
« on: July 15, 2016, 09:32:29 AM »

You can find Work In Progress pics on the Instagram site, for those who are unaware. You don't have to have an instagram account to view them as far as I know, unlike Facebook. Why Instagram, Andy? Well, it's easy to take a pic on my crappy phone and upload it to Instagram without messing about with server uploads etc to get one on here.

Currently working on the Giant (named 'Mucklegeet') from the Kickstarter if you want to take a look...

General Ranting / Watch out for spam from new members

Hi All!
Please watch out for any spam from new members. I've just had to "Approve and Require activation' about 45 people as there just isn't time for me to google search and stopforumspam check all of their names and email addresses. If you see a dodgy post, report it and I will delete the post and ban members.

Heresy - Announcements/News / Shipping Change
« on: May 26, 2016, 05:11:08 PM »
Sad to say, but due to complete lack of sales during this first half of the year, I can no longer afford to employ Dan.  :( I swear, everyone who used to shop regularly with Heresy just buys stuff off Kickstarter now. Anyway, the biggest effect of this is that because I am now trying to get the remaining Kickstarter pledges cast up, I am reducing the number of days that I pack and ship orders down to Tuesdays and Fridays. Casting takes up so much concentration and effort that the day blurs past and before you know it it's 6pm and the post office is long shut.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused by delays in shipping your order, my workload is immense now. If your parcelis urgent, be sure to let me know.

If you could all send your friends to buy something, that'd be a big help.

It's that most wonderful time of the year! The bit when I get to take some time off! Yes, Heresy is now officially CLOSED until 11th of January 2016 - I will be trying to catch up on the sculpting for the Kickstarter when I'm not eating sprouts and all the manky chocolates that my wife doesn't like from the Quality Street/Roses tub. (Or if I don't get food poisoning from the 6 year old mincemeat that I'll be making pies with again this year. To be fair, it mainly consists of alcohol now, there's barely any fruit left in it.)

No orders will ship until Dan and I return on 11th of January 2016 - but not only can you get FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING on any orders over £50.00 GBP, but the first 20 people to spend at least £10.00 on miniatures can use the code NICE to get 25% off their order! Just type it into the Redemption Code box on the shopping cart, which is on the Payments page (keep clicking Continue until you get there, don't use the Paypal Express Button or it won't give you the chance to put the code in, and it also won't let you choose the free shipping - just use the regular Paypal from the Payment Options). Please note that the NICE code can only be used once per person, and only the first 20 people can use it!

If you are too late to be NICE, enter the code NAUGHTY instead and you can still get 15% off any miniatures in your order! (Again, minimum order is £10.00 GBP). All orders will resume shipping, in order of receipt, on the 11th of January when we get back! Merry Christmas (and a Happy New Year) to one and all and we'll see you in 2016!
All the best,
Andy Foster

P.S. I will also be posting on Instagram WIPS of the stuff I am working on over the holidays, if you want to keep an eye on me.

In case anyone is unaware, there's a whole bunch of New Stuff in the New Stuff section of the shop!  :boing:
32mm round bases, perfect for rebasing your army, and at a cheaper price than GW!  :boing:
40mm square bases, after 13 years trying to find a source of them!  :boing:
60mm round and a masssive 120mm x 90mm Oval, which I'll be using for all the NetherLords and Madames I have to cast!  :boing:
Magnets to fit all of the above! Maggotmen! Snow Troll, Dungeon Troll, Manbane! The first Occulak!  :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing: :boing:

You can see it all here:

And read about it in more detail here:

PS:  :boing:

:boing: :woohoo: :danceofjoy: :kick: :nl2: :ooohyeah:

Well, if you hadn't seen it on the site, or the newsletter or on my Facebook or Twitter feeds, I did at long last cast the last pieces needed to finish all the dragons required to clear the queue that has been in place, and which I have checked pretty much every day since 2010. Certainly there has not been a day gone past since Christmas 2008 when I started sculpting it, that it hasn't dominated my thoughts. I can't convey to you the awfulness of the situation, but at long last, it's all sorted. Finished. Done. Word kept.

To celebrate, I am of course immediately taking two weeks off to really get some work done on the Kickstarter figures; as much as I'd love to spend the two weeks on holiday with my wife, it's not financially possible, so two weeks of sculpting it is. This does of course mean that no orders can be processed so to compensate, you can claim 25% off any metal miniatures (including deals) by using the Redemption Code THEDRAGONISDEAD in the special Redemption Code box on the cart, when ordering.
Orders will resume shipping 9th September.  :whip:

I've already said it on the dragon thread, but I'd like to thank everyone for being so patient over the years of this saga (half of Heresy's existence! :blub:) and I'm glad I was given the chance to prove to you all that I truly did mean to keep my word and get you all a Dragon.

So, whilst I get over the shock of realising just how ludicrous the task ahead of me turned out to be (over 300 dragons sent out, over 250 of them cast by me personally in the end) and try to compose an appropriate essay detailing it without it turning into an autobiographical account of despair and stubbornness in the face of insurmountability, and after that turn my hand to getting as many Kickstarter figures ready to mould as possible over the next two weeks, please enjoy a hefty discount on me to celebrate!

Hi All

Well, what a busy time of year this is turning out to be! As you may know, I have spent the last 5 years in a windowless dungeon that barely fits the Heresy stuff inside. Well, since bringing the resin casting side of things into play, I have been very much overcrowded in here. My resin casting room is a desk 6 feet long, you can't move for boxes and detritus and it just isn't cutting the mustard. Add in a super-dodgy landlord and general poor state of repair of the yard the unit is in, and it all adds up to being bad for general business.

And now, the Kickstarter has been wildly successful, and it means that I absolutely must have more space to make all the new moulds for all the monsters! My current workshop's contract runs out on 24th September, and thanks to the last minute splurge of funds I can finally afford somewhere bigger, so I've put an offer in on a new workshop on the other side of town. Assuming my offer is accepted, it means a frantic two weeks of packing everything up ready to load into a big van (and taking half of it to the recycling centre probably) and at least a month between packing everything this end and being set up enough to do the orders at the other end, so I'll be forced to close the Heresy shop for the duration as otherwise there will be too big a queue of orders built up.

If you want something between now and end of October (hopefully I'll be set up for packing/shipping before then, but just in case let's say that date) you will need to order it in the next 48 hours as I'll be too busy to cope at that point and will switch the shop to Showcase mode, where you can look but not buy, until such time as I can process things again at the new workshop. (Again, this all depends on my offer being accepted but big warning klaxons are going off right now just in case)

Heresy - Announcements/News / Heresy Kickstarter Updates
« on: August 16, 2014, 07:34:25 AM »
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I'm testing the waters with Kickstarter before running a large campaign next year for plastics. I want to resurrect my monsters in resin and to do it I thought I'd use this Kickstarter thing that everyone has now. The idea is that the KS stuff will ship at the end of January, ie post-dragon, because I'll still be spending the rest of this year getting all those out first, so don't worry, Dragon-queuers, you are still dominating my life. If I can raise enough funds, maybe I can even hire a new Minion and really get things moving, or close the shop for a bit and concentrate on just casting dragons and making the  production moulds for the kickstarter stuff!

The plan is to resurrect as many of the Classic large monsters that I have made since 2002 in as few chunks of resin as possible, as opposed to the rather jigsaw like nature of them when they were in metal. I've tried to resist altering them as much as possible, but any tweaks are very much for the better, to help them fit together or cast more reliably and so froth. Or to make me not cry when I look at their enthusiastic anatomy attempts from my early days in the business.

To whet your appetite, here's a few size comparison pictures:

I'll let everyone know by newsletter, twitter, facebook and on here when the Kickstarter launches, be aware there are a handful of minorly cheaper Early Bird offers for the first couple of dozen people.
Once it's launched, please let anyone who might be interested know on any forums you're on.:assimilate: A lot of people have pestered me about getting hold of a Netherlord over the years and this will be their only chance! Wouldn't want them to miss out, the campaign will only run for a couple of weeks! :charge:

Heresy - Announcements/News / NetherLord Mk 1 - Returning Soon
« on: April 01, 2014, 04:24:55 PM »
This is a heads-up. The long out of production and much demanded NetherLord Mk 1 will be returning in resin after Salute. The only drawback is I don't want to get myself into any sort of 'queue' situation like with the Dragon (although the main difference is the figure is, of course, finished and would just need extra moulds made to meet demand) so I'll likely be selling it in small batches as and when they are cast.

I *might* run a KickStarter to get the cash for extra moulds, since that seems to be how things work in this industry now if you want to actually sell anything but most likely I'll just sell it in small runs from the off.

This is a resin copy of the original metal model, mainly tweaked (ie two weeks of work!) to make it fit together like a dream compared to the original and some slight mods here and there to pick out detail that might have been lost in the previous version.

I'm expecting there to be some demand for this, so if you want one, watch out for when a few castings suddenly become available. I will announce it on here, and on Twitter and Facebook and stuff, and I will also setup a proudct page for it so that people can use the Product Notification facility on the shop.

The Winged version will be up first, I'll do the spined version at a later date. Rushing to get any castings of it at all for Salute. If you're coming on the day, any that I do have will likely sell out quickly.

No idea on price yet, will have to work it out when I have a complete set of moulds and castings.

Heresy - Announcements/News / Two Weeks of Hell
« on: March 27, 2014, 10:32:46 AM »
Today is the last day I will be posting out orders until April 15th, i.e. after Salute. Too much to do to get ready for the show! I don't think I'm going to get half of it done, but my only chance to get any of it done is to stop doing the orders for the next two weeks...
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Quick question - I am currently in the process of assembling and best-fitting the old Heresy Monsters for resin-casting purposes, starting with the two Trolls. Do you prefer them in as few parts as possible for fastest assembly, eg heads-on, or with heads off for easier conversion?

Hi all

Quick note - the Hürn II figure will no longer be available as of midnight tonight, UK time.

You have until midnight tonight to get one of these, then it's No Longer Available as a figure.

Nobody has asked me to stop making it - yet - but it's the right thing to do when officially licensed figures are available elsewhere.

Plastics Fantastic / Gang Types - What Do You Want?
« on: November 01, 2013, 11:46:39 AM »
Obviously it'd be very easy for me to just do some more trenchcoats in plastic, and no doubt they'll be done at some point, but all that will do is detract from sales of the metal figures at this point, so it's liekly a better idea to do something else.
I put the idea of a redneck trucker gang forward, but really you need something with as much unfirm appearance, and thus interchangeability and reusability as possible - the redneck gang would all be very individual and non-uniform, so unless everyone is happy to have 3 or 4 identical height and weight men so that the torsos and legs can be swapped, it's maybe not the best option.

So what would you like, you 114+ people that have voted for Gang Types?

Just thought I'd post this on the Calendar, since it's there.
Who's going, and does anyone want to help out on the day?

Plastics Fantastic / The Undead
« on: October 29, 2013, 01:03:46 PM »
I'd best make a separate topic for the Undead 3-ups that I do, since Skeletons will form the backbone of the whole plastics range, being used to provide the proportions etc for all the human-derived figures I make.
I just posted this pic in the other thread:

It doesn't look like anything has changed since the last photos, but there's a been a lot of stuff done to it since then, and also, it looks twice as good as this in real life, because you aren't seeing the proper shape of it in this macro-lens image. And you aren't seeing all the many poses and weapons that I can see when I look into the future. I'm so bloody giddy with excitement about it, it's ridiculous.

Very tricky process because I'm second guessing the pattern and tool makers that will transfer it into a steel mould with zero undercuts. You certainly come to understand why certain companies have made odd choices when it comes to things like skulls. The ones you see on the tabletop have almost nothing in common with real life skulls - to do one that did justice to an actual skull I might have to make the 'face' entirely separate!

Plastics Fantastic / The Dark Brethren
« on: October 28, 2013, 12:11:37 PM »
Just out of interest, since the Dark Brethren Cultists are topping the poll, I thought I'd check and ask what you're expecting from the plastic models. I wonder if everyone is thinking along the lines of what I'm thinking, or along the lines of the other thing I'm thinking, which is what I think you might be thinking and not what I was thinking to start with but what I could think if it's what you think.

Current Dark Brethren Cultists here:

Now are you expecting something along these lines, but with hand weapons and shields and knives and stuff, and hopefully expanded to include berserkers, acolytes, more gribblies, the Tunnel Runner demons, Blights, and their Idol, the Tunnel Dweller (Reborn)

Or are you expecting them to look more or less like that, but to have guns and other tech options and be more sci-fi usable?

Or are you expecting them to look like for want of a better word, Chaos Imperial Guard, and thus 'orrible withered/mutant/fanatic/undead/etc sci-fi Troopers? (If this is what you want, it's not unwelcome, just not what I was actually thinking of when I put it up on the poll. It can be done, oh, yes, with gusto, all for it, but surprised if so)

Important that I nail it down before work begins on concepts etc.

Speaking of, the original concepts for the Tunnel Guard and Tunnel Dweller were done by Mr Robin Carey, whom I intend to get to re-imagine his children for the next go around... Paul Muller sculpted the excellent models for the Dark Brethren and the Giant Slugs based on this art, but I'll be doing it this time around...

Heresy - Announcements/News / NEWS: New Scientist (to pre-order)
« on: October 27, 2013, 04:00:30 PM »
Copy of the Newsletter I just sent out.

New Scientist

Dr Payne

You may have seen this on the Heresy Facebook or Twitter feeds. Unless you don't use Facebook or Twitter, in which case you definitely haven't seen it, so here it is. I've thought of everything, you see...

Dr Payne joins the ranks of the Scientists & Civilians range (SCICIV010, codeaholics!) and will be in production on or before 8th November 2013 (hoping to get him all moulded and sorted before that but you have to put a definite date on these things). He'll come with a couple of alternate hands to replace his Probulator if you prefer, too!

Not only that, but I've put a whole-range Scientists & Civilians Deal on the store that allows you to buy the full set of ten figures at 20% off!

That deal can be found here, along with Dr Payne:

Plastic Fantastic - Your Input Wanted

As you will also have Not Seen on Twitter, Facebook and the Forum Of Doom, I recently had a chat with a chap in the business of plastic injection about getting some small plastic sprues made. It left me raring to go on a number of things I've been planning for years but had to put on the back boiler ever since I muttered the words 'A Dragon! That'll be a fun thing to do, and won't take long at all!'

Well, once that Dragon is at last in regular, predictable production, I'll need to get on with new projects at last and this is them. I've put a big poll of the things I want to do on the Forum Of Doom and I need you - and your friends - to vote for what you would like to see! You don't need to be a member, you can vote as a Guest, but if you do log-in you'll be able to ask any questions on there as well so I can iron out anything I haven't considered.

Find the poll on the FOD here:

The other thing Mr Plastics and I talked about was the Dragon, and the problems it's causing, specifically with the torso. After much discussion and waving of components around to find angles, it was decided that I'm actually going about it the right way and probably a few minor things will sort out the issue of the spine tip-snapping that is currently happening. I'll be pouring a new mould next week in softer rubber, can't wait to see if things start working!

More news soon!

Plastics Fantastic / Your Ultimate Adventurer Party Combo?
« on: October 25, 2013, 02:47:50 PM »
What is the ideal combination of adventurer types, in your opinion?
Let's say I can fit 5 or maybe 6 models onto one plastic frame for a boxed game, what should they be?
The Classic Combo here would be Barbarian, Elf Ranger, Dwarf Fighter (or a Cleric of some race), Human Wizard, Human Thief, but if I was running a game of NetherHells I might look to use a Dark Paladin, Necromancer, Assassin, Half-Ogre Barbarian, Warlock, Thief (so amoral, those Thieves) and so forth.

Plastics Fantastic / Plastics - your input wanted!
« on: October 25, 2013, 01:23:54 PM »
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you'll know I recently had a chat with a chap about making plastics. This chat left me absolutely buzzing with ideas and excitement, because the prices we were talking about were much more achievable than I had heard, and the turnaround time was around 4 months instead of 14 months, from finished master to production castings of sprues.

Now the downside is that the frame size is quite small - you could fit say three trooper bodies on there along with say 16 arm and head options, or you could get maybe 8 one-piece single figures on there. Of immediate interest to me was the idea of getting the Tunnel Dweller in plastic - it would take two frames to do it and this would mean I'd need to raise around £18k on Kickstarter - but the end figure would be awesome, and instead of costing £35+ in metal it could be sold for a much more reasonable price, say £15 - £20 - (possibly less but it would mean I'd have to shift 2,000 of them to raise the cash!) (Could be offset by having a suitably monstrous alternate maggoty maw to use in place of the demon torso, meaning you could assemble as Tunnel Dweller or Giant Maggoty Thing, two kits in one. Or I could bung a few nasty creepy crawlies in there to spice up the base. Or indeed, a custom base.)

My original thing was to have the dungeon tiles in plastic but it would need a bigger custom frame size because you couldn't fit enough tiles on the small frame to make it worthwhile in terms of cost per tile - I'll still be looking into it but a better short term goal is to do something like Dark Brethren Cultists, where the weight in metal makes the current pack a bit expensive to build a big horde with, or Troopers etc. The thing I would really love to get cracking with is skeletons. Childhood dream.

Here is the list of things I want to do in plastic. I want your votes on which would be best. Don't give me 'oh, loads of people are doing those already' as an excuse not to do something because my stuff will look different to the stuff that's already out there - my skeletons won't look like those of Mantic or GW, etc. (BTW I am a firm believer that people who like Undead are never truly content with the ones they have, we always want more if they look nice.)

You can choose up to 5 things that you or your friends would want to buy. Ask your friends to vote, in fact, this poll is open to guest voters!

(Assume that this will not interfere with Dragon production. Because I have to also make new things or the Dragons will never be produced.)

Dear all

Please go to your inbox and delete all your old private messages, some of them are crazy old and you don't need them, they're just clogging up the database. Some of you have 100s of them hanging about, and two particular people have 1000's!
Go to  My Messages > Actions > Prune Messages and delete anything older than say 30 days, or all of them if you've dealt with everything. Copies of all your messages would have been emailed to you anyway so you might have old copies of them in your email programs.

General Ranting / New board coming soon!
« on: September 28, 2013, 09:55:45 PM »
Hi all
They've just released a stable version of phpbb3 and I have to upgrade the forum. this involves a fair amount of work, certainly more than I care to do at this time of night, so I'll do it tomorrow. At some point in the next 24 hrs the Forum Of Doom will be temporarily unavailable whilst I copy all the database files across, unless the magic internet imp does it over night (ie Fear The Squirrels) whilst I am abed. I will leave some uncobbled shoes out on the off-chance, as well as a mince pie and a glass of sherry.
Anyway, don't panic if things aren't working when you visit; and if it all looks awful and weird, I'll be as sad and angry as you are. No idea what the new build looks like!

This could be quite a regular occurrence, but once again I will be taking some time off to do Dragon stuff - making another set of moulds, having re-worked it hugely since last time to eliminate a few problems (I hope, anyway. Yet to test my theory!).

Because making the moulds needs time and a lot of concentration I can't do it and the orders at the same time, so for the next week I won't be shipping anything. I'm not taking 2 weeks off because it took a further 3 weeks to catch up last time, so just the 1 week this time. Then I'll ship the orders that have accrued, starting Monday the 30th.

To compensate those who will be inconvenienced by this, there is 20% off the metal miniatures as before, and free WORLDWIDE shipping on all orders over £50. This includes the USA, and every other country on Earth, before anyone emails to check! (Someone always does!)

I will be posting the occasional video on YouTube of the process. I've done a couple already as you will have seen on my Facebook and Twitter feeds and things. They can be viewed here on the Heresy Miniatures YouTube Channel: (Just discovered the 'Captions' option. Sufice to say, inaccurate.)

Right, can't hang about, got a lot of plasticine-like gak to mush about so that the mould lines run along the right bit of scales without obliterating everything. Fingers crossed!
