Non-FOD minis / Morphy Taters
« on: July 24, 2012, 05:40:11 PM »
Couldn't resist painting this little guy as soon as i got him (this morning). Hope you like him, i certainly do  :). Can honestly say this is one of my favourite sculpts i've ever had, lovely little fella, pretty clean casting and a nice simple, fun mini to paint. And before anyone points it out i know there should be some OSL effects but i think it only looks good when done well and it's something i've never got the hang of so i've left it without ;)

Non-FOD minis / Death or Freedom!
« on: June 29, 2011, 09:51:42 AM »
Posted these elsewhere, sorry if you've already seen them. Just some pics of one of my Salute projects (yeah i know, that was in April), Gladiatorial combat! Basic gaming standard paint on these as i didn't want to spend ages on them and once i finally got going they were pretty quick. Crusader miniatures, not too bad, a bit chunky in places and some of the shields were badly miscast but i rolled with it anyway. One group shot and a couple of action shots. As always comments and criticism welcome  :)

Black Scorpion / Preacher
« on: April 23, 2011, 02:56:31 PM »
My mounted version of the Tombstone Preacher, think i might have to highlight up the black on his duster a bit more but other than that i'm fairly happy with how he turned out.

Non-FOD minis / Malifaux Crew
« on: April 01, 2011, 01:12:15 PM »
Bought at Salute last year and played the game once . Thought i'd finish these guys off and slap them on ebay to generate some more funds for Salute this year to buy more stuff that i won't use

Hasslefree / Captain Chocadooby, Space Spore Collector.
« on: March 01, 2011, 10:20:06 AM »
"Captains log. En-route to spaceport have passed small planet with what appears to be an abundant supply of Red Space Spores, not the rarest but enough to pay for the repairs to Shuttle Kinder. I've patched her together as best i can, although some of the repair work is very rough, and she should be good for one more stop off. One problem I do have is the Station Holding Internal Thrusters are not funtioning at 100% and Kinder is suffering from a small ammount of drift when over a Spore site. I have countered this problem with a bit of jury rigging and a nod to the ancient sailors of old and anchored Kinder using some rope. Yes that's right, rope in space! I've attached the rope to what at first appeared to be a stump of a tree but this "plant" appears to have grabbed hold of the rope and almost started to form around it however the anchorage seems firm for now so I'll work quickly to collect the Spores and then head off for proper repairs. Captain Chocadooby out."

My entry for the Salute competition. I can't build/scratchbuild/use greenstuff for love nor money but it's just a bit of fun with a back story to cover my failings.
My Salute pack contained the little goblin chap (Captain Chocadooby as i've chosen to call him), some ball bearings (space spores), a resin toxic drum (nose cone of Shuttle Kinder) and a Heresy control panel from security robot (side of shuttle) along with the greenstuff which has been used for various bits and bobs throughout.

Questions and Answers / Varnish question
« on: December 18, 2010, 07:37:28 PM »
Have painted a miniature and in my rush to get it finished (for an xmas present) i neglected to varnish it. I have brush on gloss which i normally use then blast with spray on Dullcote. The issue i have is the miniature is based with a snow effects base and now i'm wondering if the Dullcote will discolour the snow affects (it's GW snow) if i use it. The mini is only for display not gaming so would i be best just leaving it and telling the recipient that it's not varnished? Any thoughts or experience share would be appreciated  :?

Hasslefree / Dwarf Warband (well 4 so far)
« on: February 17, 2010, 02:31:51 PM »
This is the start of my dwarf warband. Still got the Dwarf with greataxe, Grimdalf, 2 more warriors and another xbow to do.

Hasslefree / Sebastian
« on: February 01, 2010, 02:46:30 PM »
This one has been in the undercoated pile for ages and just felt like painting him today. As usual my metals suck along with my photography but it's done and will be fine for tabletop action.

Black Scorpion / Another Dwarf Rogue
« on: June 13, 2009, 01:17:25 PM »
second one of these painted. Turned out better than the first, really have got to try and paint more though as these large breaks between painting are leaving me very rusty.

Black Scorpion / First Dwarf Rogue
« on: April 02, 2009, 12:13:41 PM »
Picked up the Dwarf pirate stuff at Salute on Saturday, painted the first of my rogues. Pretty crappy paint job to be honest but first figure i've wanted to paint for an age so that's a good thing. I'm going to repaint the coat a darker colour as it blends with the beard too much (not so much in reality compared to how it looks in the pic). Plenty more to paint from this range so hopefully the rest will be better

Black Scorpion news / Website problems
« on: March 29, 2009, 12:21:15 PM »
Having problems with the Black Scorpion website today. Can't get on and my antivirus tells me it has blocked an intrusion attempt when i do try to get on. Anyone else having problems?

Heresy / Bane
« on: December 20, 2008, 12:44:43 PM »
This is my attempt at Bane, great miniature to paint. probably my fave Heresy mini so far. He is going to see service as my Dark Heresy character Ishmail Kane (scum). As always comments and hints/tips welcome.

Black Scorpion / They call him the Kid
« on: November 18, 2008, 03:38:41 PM »
Another one that's visited the stripping pot a few times. Was determined to get him done this time and i'm fairly pleased with the overall job although i'm still not happy with the face (which is why he went in the pot both times before). As always pointers and tips appreciated.

Heresy / Colossus
« on: November 14, 2008, 05:08:44 PM »
My attempt at the Colossus model, first try at lava effects, not too bad but room for improvement. Do i need to go heavier on the black? Not sure the lava base was such a good idea either as the feet of the model get a bit lost in it.

Hasslefree / Harby
« on: November 05, 2008, 01:35:38 PM »
Another one from me, been a battle, stripped twice and still not really happy with the third attempt. Don't know why i struggled so much as it's a great mini but it never "clicked" when i was painting it. Oh well at least it's another moved from the unpainted pile to the painted shelf.

Hasslefree / Jinso (trial for squad colours)
« on: November 02, 2008, 03:53:24 PM »
As the title says really, painting a small squad of Grymn (that i've had forever ) and did a quick job on Jinso to try out the scheme. So does it work? Sorry the pics are a bit dark but was running out of light.

Well it's finished, not as good as i hoped but the first time i've got one done so quite happy really.

The basic story is our brave heroine Tiriel is praying/meditating at the grave of a loved one unaware of the approaching horde (well 4) of shambling undead and the "grave danger" they represent.

General Ranting / Fantasy Warlord
« on: September 07, 2008, 10:14:08 AM »
Apart from e-bay does anyone know where i can get a reasonably priced copy of the old mass combat rules Fantasy Warlord by Gary Chalk & Ian Bailey. I remember having some decent games with this system back in my youth and was thinking of trying it again.

Eolith/Spyglass / Barnaby the monk
« on: July 20, 2008, 02:16:37 PM »
Another mini from me. Going to use him for my D&D monk Balto Barrelhouse. Good fun to paint, thought i'd go with something different to the usual browns for monks and think it works. As usual my metals suck. As always comments and critisism welcome.

Eolith/Spyglass / Lilith.
« on: July 15, 2008, 01:35:59 PM »
She came in the post this morning and i painted her straight away (got the monk as well, primed and ready for another day). Lovely model to paint, it's come out o.k i think and will make a nice adversary for my roleplay group. As always comments and critique welcome.
