Questions and Answers / Re: Rifles!

If they're okay, pm me your address and I'll send you some. I have the British Infantry and there are plenty of spare weapons

The Warlord Games Bolt Action miniatures come with separate weapons.

I used a couple of their Lee Enfield rifles to replace some really bad ones on the Foundry Dad's Army figures.

Loads of detail, and I seem to remember they include a sniper version, with scope

Random Chat / Post and Packing options

I wonder if it's possible for you to offer a non-recorded delivery p&p option.

I suspect you've been burned a lot in the past, but it does make me think twice about buying stuff. It's a pain having to go to the post office, so I tend to wait until there are a few things I want before buying.

I'm not sure what the post office is doing with recorded delivery these days. I came home the other week to find a package waiting at my neighbour's, and the recorded delivery sticker was still attached to the side. I'm not sure if the postie missed it, or if they're ignoring it (I seem to remember reading somewhere that they were going to sign for stuff themselves, rather than take it back to the depot)

Just a thought, but I'd be more likely to give in to the impulse buy if you offered a non-recorded delivery option. On second thoughts... :-)

It might be worth having a look around Hirst Arts and their forum as that question gets discussed a lot there.

main one is Lead Adventure Forum (sorry)
Minisculpture
FOD
Reaper
Planet Figure (although that's mostly 54mm and up)
WAMP

generally I follow a forum if I can get an RSS feed to it. I've never found one for Frothers and couldn't get a site wide one for Platoon Britannica, so they've fallen off my radar

When I remember (no rss feeds either), tactical command and starshipmodeler are also places I lurk

General Ranting / Re: Finecast Strikes Again

I documented my own Finecast problems here.

Fortunately there are plenty of other good mini makers out there (you know who you are  :D), so I don't find myself heading to GW for anything other than plastic boxed sets these days, and precious few of those, given their cost :whaaa:

I do, however, remember a time when I swore I would never buy plastic minis, so perhaps, in about ten or twenty years, I'll be extolling the virtues of Finecast over whatever they're trying to replace it with. Assuming they have the QA problems sorted out by that time

Random Chat / Re: Spincasting resin- what's the worst thing about it?

There's a casting group over at yahoo that has been going for years - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/casting/. It might be worth asking the question over there as well.

My personal finecast experience is down to one figure - Malagor the Dark Omen(*). Five or six attempts in, I still haven't got a complete figure, and am now resigned to sculpting the fingers that have been missing on every model  :(

Vents are definitely something to watch. Malagor seems to have loads where they're not needed (big support structure around his staff), and none where they are - very fine fingers on his left hand, which is where the main problems have been

* This was bought just last week, as I decided to wait until the teething troubles were fixed. They ain't fixed yet :(

Other Mini's, RPGS, Etc / Re: 54mm science fiction minis

Pizarro miniatures via El Greco do a couple that may be of use - http://www.elgrecominiatures.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d129_Pizarro_Black_Anvil.html#p1791. The Tyron miniature would definitely fit the mercenary category.

There are some older Andrea ones in the Historex catalogue, but they take some finding, e.g. a not predator

Andy, be careful not to upset him - there's a good chance he'll be able to introduce you to a relative/friend who just happens to have some suitcases of money he needs to get out the country, and then all your money worries will be over  :woohoo:

Ideas for New Heresy Models / Re: Modern Demons
« on: December 17, 2010, 02:30:09 PM »
I converted a Foundry Street Fighter figure a couple of years ago. There was always one figure per pack that was about 5mm taller than all the others, and just didn't fit in. Why, Foundry, why  :huh?:

Can't remember where I found the head, but the hands were spares from GW's zombie sprue.

I always pictured him as more of a henchdemon, rather than a master demon, but I suppose both work.

ps first post, and not of a Hasslefree figure
