Doctor Who / Re: 50th Anniversary Special In 3D.
« on: November 24, 2013, 10:58:02 PM »
I was a day late watching that, but certainly enjoyed it.
Clara improved again (she was good in her first two incarnations, but was somehow lacking for most of the series). Do you think she'll stick around much beyond the regeneration?
Looking forward to the Christmas special...

Plastics Fantastic / Re: Gang Types - What Do You Want?
« on: November 07, 2013, 01:05:30 PM »
I really like the heresy gangers, but I don't see the need for them in plastic. For a gang I want lots of unique individuals with a flexible choice of weapons. Plastics strike me as better suited to board game pieces or rank and file troops. Plastics might give some more flexibility, but I'm not sure.
Are people specifically wanting plastic gangers, or are they just looking for any excuse to pester Andy to make more gangers?

Lovely crisp sculpting. I can see why you are getting distracted!

The Hobbes from Fable 2 always struck me as being very similar in essence to your description of kobolds (although much less lizardy).
But that's a sidetrack. I always liked your idea of kobolds (although of mixed opinions for the winning design).

If kobolds are still intended as the main enemy then it would be great to finally see those. Do you have the picture of the winning entry? Or is it still in a thread somewhere on the forum? I remember you running that contest shortly after I found the forum of doom...

I would like to see a small coherent range of one of those forces - undead, demons, goblins/orcs, insect gribblies, something else. Models ranging in size/effectiveness from low level minion up to tunnel dweller equivalent.
Or a heroquest style mix up if you go the game route...

Big Boris.
Van Halfling.
Brother Bude and Shae.

I'm not sure if you would be allowed (or want) to use the spyglass figures, but Shae would fit very well as the elf archer archetype. Not to mention the fact that it never hurts to have some eye candy...
I think a cross wielding robed cleric would also fit nicely in netherhells, but something you would probably resculpt yourself.

Evil adventuring party - make it something unique and distinctly netherhells.
Always good to turn cliches on their heads if you can.

If they are for a board game then please don't make them variable - single part models (or two parts with a simple plug).  If I get a board game I want to play it immediately rather than spend a week assembling lots of fiddly minis. If it's a miniatures game, then that is somehow a different thing...
The recent plethora of board games through kickstarter have given plenty examples of both good and badly thought out games...

I think it should be low level creatures that you could fill a dungeon with - gribblies, skeletons and cultists would all fit the bill nicely. I would also vote for your little goblins.
Other than that I like the idea of dungeon tiles and doors (although I'm not sure if plastic dungeon tiles give much benefit over war hammer quest style tiles).

Great thread here - good to see some fully painted forces all in one place! Sadly I haven't got a painted Grymn force to share...

Twilight / Re: Sci-fi Twilight?

Sorry for being rubbish and quiet! I've been flat out preparing sculpts to go to the casters before salute..
I did sculpt a long rifle for the dhogu, but haven't got as far as sculpting arms to hold it. Some day I'll get them done... I'll have the rifles at salute if anybody would like a look.

As was Dan Starkey as Strax. And I really hope they end up having him as a full blown Doctors companion as I think that would be awesome.
Not sure about that. He was funny, but might drift into being annoying very quickly if over used... He might fit in a spin-off though.
I have yet to see a bad word said about JLC, which is fairly impressive for any new companion!

I really enjoyed it (good balance of scary and funny) and looking forward to seeing more of the new companion!
What did everybody else think?

(sorry if I've missed another thread already discussing this, but I can't find one!)

Sneak Peeks / Re: WIP Heresy Plastics Project
« on: September 20, 2012, 08:57:38 AM »
This looks to be a great project and just the sort of thing kick starter should be used for. Just be sure to have the 'much more than I ever intended to spend but there's too much good stuff to resist' deal at around the 70 mark with a few extras to make people spend even more...

Those resin costs sound ridiculous - I hope that doesn't set things back too much.

As for the other thing
Also, i doubt Mike would intentionally let you down
That. Maybe time to let things lie?

That would be nice.

In spite of the dig, I'd still recommend Alan's boards (and kits) - very nicely done pieces that would work for a bunch of different settings, not just Twilight.

Twilight is still alive and kicking on its own board - HF and the FoD were very kind to give me somewhere to start things off, but I didn't want to overstay my welcome. Saying that, it's also been very quiet on our forum - hopefully things will pick up as the dark nights start closing in...

I miss the times when the FoD was really busy with lots of creative stuff being shared - hopefully we'll see a new DoD or suchlike to reinvigorate things  :D

Twilight / Re: Twilight Sale!

That's strange.... Probably worth sending Sally an email directly to try and figure out what's going wrong!
That's also a lot of Grishak - scary!

Great job Inso! Good to see another sleiti :D

Twilight / Twilight Sale!
« on: August 26, 2012, 02:44:35 PM »
Sally has just kicked off a big Twilight sale on the Hasslefree site! There are some excellent deals, so its worth a look if you want to stock up on anything. There has been mention of random goodie bags etc, so keep your eyes open, particularly on the Hasslefree facebook page.

Impressive sculpt - good luck with the casting!

Twilight / Re: Sci-fi Twilight?
« on: March 21, 2012, 08:18:06 PM »
It wouldn't really be sci fi twilight - just a kit for letting you turn a few twilight models a bit scifi...
If I did scifi I'd probably do something very different, not just twilight 40k.
I think I agree with the comments about guns... I wasn't sure if any of the HF guns would work. I'm a bit nervous sculpting some myself, but it might be fun to try. I think long barrelled rifles wrapped in rags would fit best.

Twilight / Sci-fi Twilight?
« on: March 20, 2012, 09:38:18 PM »
I'm just getting a new set of figure ready for sale at salute (and from Hasslefree). The dhogu are a race of mountainous fubarnii who I've done as multipart models. Probably a foolish idea to do them so multipart, but I kinda like how they've turned out.

I've been thinking they might actually work quite nicely in a sci fi setting if I could just sort them out with a sprue of gun arms...

A very neat little solution might be to 'borrow' one of kev's guns (with permission, of course), add an arm and get it cast. So, the big question on here is whether it is a good idea, and what would be the best gun for the little guys? I feel they should have long rifles, but I'm not sure there are any options in that style that would work. I'll probably do a single handed grip to begin with rather than trying to get a two-handed grip. It'll also mean the arm will fit on the yirnak rider.
I doubt I'll actually get these done for salute, but possibly we could come up with some sort of pre-order deal if I get them sculpted in time...

I'll send you a free gun-armed infantry trooper if you come up with the idea I eventually implement! :)

Oh, and here's the Yirnak rider...

Twilight / Re: The Twilight forum has a new home!
« on: March 17, 2012, 08:21:19 AM »
Hi Zoglin!
As gi6ers said, Twilight is still ticking over nicely on the new forum.
At the moment I'm rather busy with plans for salute, which is not much more than a month away now (yikes!). Hasslefree are kindly hosting a Twilight demo game there, which I'm very excited about  :D

The Colouring-in Room / Re: Robot in the Rain wip
« on: March 10, 2012, 06:19:14 PM »
That's great!
I agree with inso's suggestions. I think the umbrella should be bright and cheery to contrast with the robot. Some more 'mechanical' markings would work well on the robot itself - some straight lines or stencilled numbering etc.
Excellent work on the base as well.

I don't think I've missed any posts about him, but I see Officer Stalks has snuck into the new releases  :D

I sculpted this a few years ago and gave him to Sally as a little thank-you for helping out with getting Twilight up and running. He's spent a while in hiding but it's great to see him on the HF site  :D
