A belated (sorry ...busy!) thankyou Andy! A box full of minty resin goodness arrived last week. He's awesome and worth the wait.

Cheers...  :D

Oi, Nosferatu! Could you answer the PM (or email) I sent you, please?  :P

Are you on holiday...?

Sorry Andy, yeah I've been in Nepal (2.5 months) and Borneo (1 month), but I'm back now! :D ...looking forward to seeing that dragon! See PM for details...

...I was lucky that time, but it seems this is courier revenge, because Andy's missing package may well have contained my dragon!  :tantrum:

Um....it did.:kick:

Sorry. :terrified:

 :faint:

Right, better give me the name of that courier company, I'm off to hire a hitman.  :grrr:  :eatlead:

And I guess tis moves him to the back of the queue as well?

Oi! Don't even think about it! ...if I'm hiring, it's not so hard to extend the contract!  :wry:

I had a similar thing happen a couple of weeks back. I was at work and was keeping an eye on the courier's tracking website because I knew the package was due. It was quite disconcerting to see the package status change on their system to 'delivered'. Apparently signed for by someone called 'David' (which is, strangely, my name!). Their tracking system also showed 'David's' signature, which didn't resemble mine at all! Anyway, luckily the package was on my door step when I got home. I complained long and loud to the courier company. The Manager got back to me and seemed to appreciate the seriousness of fraudulently signing someone else's name and of dumping a package that had a big pink sticker on it saying 'signature must be obtained'. So end result for me was that I did safely get my package, no thanks to idiot courier. Who apparently will be out of a minimum wage job if he does it again.

...I was lucky that time, but it seems this is courier revenge, because Andy's missing package may well have contained my dragon!  :tantrum:

some prudish people may find offensive. So if you are too young (or at work) don't look.

Why did you have to go and be a prat about it?  And what makes the too-young or people at work 'uptight prudes' in your eyes?

:eh: Are you serious? I was simply giving a warning to those who view the forum at work and giving the people the option of not viewing if they find nudity offensive. I was implying that perhaps the image was also suited to a more mature audience. If somehow this is wrong or stupid, then I'm sorry. I know that if I open up a page on any forum at work that had something like this, those around me (who rightly or wrongly are a little prudish) would find it offensive and I could get myself into trouble. A warning about the content seemed logical to me.

Jeesh! I'll just shut up then...  :erm:

Come on, you know you want to...

Warning: I've posted a link and not the actual image because the drawing contains nudity that some prudish people may find offensive. So if you are too young (or at work) don't look.

Re-did the feelers and have primed and attached the mini now:

Some mossy bits will be added once painting is completed. Now the easy bit's done and it is on to the bit I've been struggling to get into lately...

...or I could just say that this was my artistic intent and that he is now finished. A work in black and white!

A bit more progress on the other one. I'm going to have another go at the feelers on the millipede, I stuffed 'em up a bit. Other than that it is almost ready for paint. "Mossy" bits will be added to cover the dodgiest bits. Undercoat and mini should be added tomorrow.

I know it's an astounding amount of work since June last year, but bear with me!

What I am doing: Wasting my spare time and playing on the internet.

What I should be doing: Well I probably should be doing my physio exercises (and will go do that in a minute) and later maybe even paint something while I'm on leave. I've been on sick leave for 4 weeks (have just under 2 weeks to go) after an arthroscope on my hip to sort out some issues there related to a labral tear (the membrane around the hip joint). I'm seeing the physiotherapist twice a week and undergoing an accelerated recovery so that I'm ready for a 60 day high altitude trek in Nepal, starting in May. Frighteningly close now, I need to be so much fitter (and fully recovered). ...so, not long off crutches myself!

That sort of thing. Did you ever see the Netherlord 2 up close?

 The Netherwang! Certainly the finest example of an anatomically correct mini I've seen. I'm not prudish when it comes to such things, in fact I have a few female minis with as much detail, so it seems only fair to balance that. I'll be using that option when I finally get around to putting him together!

Haven't tried Dettol, but it must be a more environmentally friendly way than the commercial paint strippers. I used Simple Green for similar reasons. Seems very effective and can be used on resin and plastic.

Oh it's illegal here too, in fact it is illegal to be holding your phone or even have it in you lap while driving. ...doesn't seem to stop the morons though.

You may be right, but I don't want to be contactable all the time... And every day I spend more than an hour on trains. I am constantly afflicted with the inane conversations of idiots, and if they're not talking they're staring at their mobile screens, and their inane interactions on Facebook (or whatever).

I may be an antisocial b@$%!@d, but I'd. Rather. Read. A. Good. Book! (in relative quiet without having to resort to my iPod to get some peace)

And don't get me started on the nuff-nuffs that drive while talking or texting, or walk along talking/texting totally ignoring their surroundings...  :swear:

You should take the opportunity to break your dependancy. I live in a blissful, mobile-free world...  :happytears:

I'd rant here but it's not something I'd like a hard copy of that could get back to me... however unlikely that would be.

 I'm waaaaay past caring...  :hmmm

Work... Everything is going to cr@p around me (nothing to do with me) but I'm assuming heads will roll soon so I'm just going to keep myself well away from it.

Man, I know that feeling, except that our new Executive Director is single handedly responsible for the demise of a 160 year old organisation. We've lost a third of our staff in the last 6 months to resignations. I've been forced into a job I hate and have gained a whole lot of new responsibilities thanks to staff departures (things I know nothing about) as well as being forced to manage 6 staff and an entire drill core library facility ...on top of my old job. Guess how much extra money I get to go along with my good fortune?  ...yep, you guessed it, not a single cent.

I would have left already, except I need my long service leave for a 3 month holiday next year. If I last that long...  :swear:

Congrats to the winners!  :applause:

...sorry, but is that all the entries or just a selection? If it's meant to be all then mine seems to have been forgotten. Oh well, I'll post pics in the Gallery...

well its narrowed down to Florida ( for the heat and cheap property), Colorado cos some excellent other sculptors live there and we like the mountains/lakes thing ( and it is still warmer than UK).

Furthest North is still Chicago for the culture and if it was on the west Coast rather than the east then Seattle is getting good points scored

The US? Your mad! ...I guess property prices are cheap at the moment though...

Melbourne is the only answer worth considering!

What? Children cost you money??? Hmmm, I knew there was a reason I didn't have any!

Perhaps you should sell them into child slavery?  :whip:

I really don't understand mob mentality ...and those gits who just take advantage of a bad situation...

Things that piss me off?

Insurance companies... So they have a standard clause (apparently) for travel insurance that goes something like: if you know of something that might mean your trip could be affected or cancelled then you are not covered for that thing.

So then a volcanic eruption that began on the 4th of June counts as a known risk and therefore anyone travelling to that part of the world with travel insurance (that booked their trip or took out insurance after that date) is not covered if their flights are delayed or cancelled due to the ash cloud from that particular volcano.

Great! ...Flights have virtually returned to normal now but the Puyehue - Cordon Caulle rift is still erupting at a lower level. It could go back to dormancy or it could continue to erupt at a low level with no effect on flights. On the other hand it could get a lot worse again at any time ...now, in the next few months or the next few years.

Problem is that the insurance companies won't give an end date for a particular 'event'. I would have assumed that, since things are almost back to normal now, a larger eruption that once again affects flights would be a new 'event' and we should be covered. Apparently not the case.

What does all this mean? It means that I'm probably not going to Antarctica in November and I lose a $3000 deposit. The only alternative is to travel without insurance for volcanic ash clouds from that volcano which could stop us from reaching Ushuaia on the day we need to get on the ship. If that happened then our loss would be closer to $30000. That's a risk I can't take.

This doesn't just affect all Antarctic trips for the summer season, but also all Patagonian trips and could also affect any trip to the southern half of South America (Buenos Aires and everything south). A major and hidden problem for the travel industry.

You could say that I'm not a happy camper at the moment, but that would be a massive understatement.  :grrr:
