Diorama of Doom 2009 (DOD IV) / Re: DOD IV Contest Winners!
« on: December 11, 2009, 08:49:30 AM »

IMHO, it's a shame that Grek's didn't place, but that might just be Dr Who fanboy in me!

ah well.. nevermind there were just too many brilliant entries this year, i just wasn't good enough, and i think everyones just getting fed up of doctor who

i'm still hoping for some feedback sometime, not just on mine but everyones  :yup:

next year if i enter... don't know if i will.... but if i do, i don't think i'm going to do a big scratchbuild project like my stargate or tardis.... i'll just knock together something less challenging with some pre-bought stuff and try and concentrate more on the painting ... but doubt i'll ever be able to match the likes of Avicenna or Brandlin

Nope, the rules for the last couple of years have been that you needed only 2 or more companies aspart of the story to qualify.

oh. .i was sure that last years rules said at least 3 companies for a DOD and it was changed to 2 this year because of eolith doing 54mm .....  :scratchhead: must have missread it

edit.... i knew i had read it somewhere.. the DOD III rules..
Quote
FOD DOD III: FODDODdier

The Main Event - DOD III: Diorama of Doom 2008 -

The main event! At least 3 companies need to be on this, but if you use all four you will gain extra points during the judging process, with those of you NOT counting the fourth company as statues but instead having all four FOD figs equally involved in the story, gaining a significant advantage over those of you who shove the token figure in the background somewhere out of the way.
Each company will award the winners credit. This will take the form of credit to be spent at the store, or half of that value as a paypal amount (you will need to setup a paypal account to claim it). Commended entries will get a little bit of credit.

..... congrats to Toosh for winning the DOS

Wot's happenin' with the Dioramas of Sycophancy etc?

yeah... that's a point....... going by the old rules.. aren't the top 3 are all dioramas of sycophancy using miniatures from 2 companies?.... all being hf and heresy in this case  :paranoid2:

where as vampifans diorama and others used 3 or more companies miniature thus being DODs

Grats guys - some really great entries again

And woohoooooo! Third time lucky for me  :lmao: The previous 2 years I was the first of the losers, but now I hold the crown!! Fear my reign!!! Muahahaha, Muahahaha!   :drevil: *cough* sorry about that... where was I? Oh yes, DoD

I hope you had as much fun AND as much anguish as I did giving birth to your creations...

Anyone who didn't obviously wasn't doing it right :P More importantly I hope everyone who entered pushed themselves and created something they are proud of - dioramas are a bloody difficult thing to pull off and each one I have done I have learnt something new about composition, size, story etc

I am really looking forward to the feedback by the judges (for all concerned) as thats where the best of the learning can be had

Rather embarrassingly it was me that voted for points. sigh.... robbed by my own vote!

I wouldnt sweat it - I voted against myself too ;)

I am glad the judges liked my entry, and thank you for settling on mine as the winner of the comp - I am well-chuffed

:worshipme:

an official complaint will be submitted to Ofcom..... and i demand to see the points voting system

congrats peter, on another superb diorama and a third win....... even though i did not get placed nor even win the blu-tack award this year   i had lots of fun scratch building my tardis console room from absolutely nothing and have learned some valuable model building techniques and lessons which i can use in further projects..... plus i now have a rather nifty console room for my Dr who gaming

Mebbe you should make a FoD poll for all the entries and use the placings from that as if it were another judge.

:metoo:

No way

There's far too many loons around here

Getting a fine for speeding on my way to a doctor's appointment for an examination the doc thinks may be pancreatic cancer.  I can't even pay $15/month to have fun as it is.  How am I going to pay for a fine? (or health care, if need be?)  Naff!

:whaaa: don't really know what to say to that..  :(
