Announcements and News / Post-op progress slower than hoped.
« on: February 13, 2013, 07:10:12 AM »
Good morning everyone.

An infection in one of my wounds means my post-op recovery is a lot slower than i had hoped.  All i seem to be abel to do is sleep at every opportunity, coffeee and po-plus wont even keep me awake ( i have tried!)

Dameon is doing a fabulous job of keeping orders in/out and sorting out restocks and keeping HF ticking over and i am trying to grab a few minutes at the pc whenever i can. But the times i usually juggle in HF stuff (when the kids are at school and in the evenings when they go to bed) all i can physically do is go to bed and close my eyes.  I cant sit upright for longer than 15 minutes at the computer or even look at the screen or paperwork without my eyes blurring over.  The anti-biotics for the post-op infection have now kicked in so i can ditch some of the more 'hallucinogenic' painkillers which will hopefully make life a bit easier!

Sorry if this means you are waiting for me to do stuff, i know that everybody is being really patient with me.

Thanks lots for your patience, we all really appreciate it.

Sally :)

Just got back from a month in Canada... Are all the entrys in yet?

not yet, about 15 more arrived in the last couple of days, i am just opening them now and will log them onto the FB gallery.

i have sourced an online polling website separate to Facebook or FOD where i will upload the images in the various categories and people will be able to log in and vote.  it was hard trying to find an online polling site where they would let me upload 90+ images for people to vote on without charging me exortionate amounts!

I will give it to the end of the week for any more entries to arrive then will get the poll up regardless.

Does the Green stuff pack have a "Do not eat!" sign on it? Might want to emphasise that...

thats where the adult should supervise the kids...loL!

or is the 'do not eat' sign for the adults?

One for the kids.

Okay, following last years successful kiddie painting competition we thought this year we might jazz it up a bit.
We have got loads of spare Oberon antlers. We would like the kiddies to make us a "rudolf".
We will send out the antlers for free and they have a choice of either converting and painting one of your existing
'spare' Hasslefree figures or making their very own version
of Rudolf.
Bear in mind we have kids of our own and we know what abilities kids of varying ages have so we will know if you have
cheated and sculpted it for them.
There are no winners or losers, just a little project that you can do with your kids between now and the middle of January.... for fun.

Anyone up for it?

Thanks for the reply.

If I made an order that went over my remaining credit, could you invoice me for the excess amount? Or would that make things too complex?

no, thats easy peasy

I am sitting here in the dining room listening to all 4 kids opening their Lego calendars and planning what they are going to do with the figures in the castles they build and the battles they play and I want to say a huge big thanks for your continued support over the years.  It hasn't been easy and we try not to burden you with the multitude of issues that seem to beset us but at the end of the day we are still here, the kids are happy, we have a roof over our head and Kev gets to make toys soldiers and cute chicks.  All is well.
I just want to say a humongous " thank you" to you all for helping us get through another year.

Sally.  :)

Oh man glad I checked the forum, I didn't get an email about that. I'll send mine out asap. Should I send in a box or padded envelope? My entry is pretty flat without any pieces that could break off, I can wrap it in the little foam squares you get in minis blisters. Whats the preferred method?

the email went out to the entire website customer database cos i assumed they had bought an armature from the website in order to enter!....lol!  You will need to check the email address that you registered on the website with and then check the spam folder and mark it as 'not spam' that way you wont miss anything in the future ( including discount codes!)

Am I right in thinking one of the few downsides of the NHS scheme is that it's a real pain to change GP's?

no it is pretty easy, provided you havent got struck off a gps list due to failure to attend appointments or being abusive to staff.

oops, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cause offence. I thought I read somewhere that they wouldn't be able to return unused greens. Must have been another comp somewhere. ;) Sending off my Entrys tonight!

if we cant cast it and you want it back then dont worry it will come back to you!

Hi Sally, sorry to be a pain but my entry doesn't appear to be on the facebook album. I did get the email to say you had it so i know you've seen it. Maybe you mentally filtered it out as it's so bad  :silly

Might help save you some time; Throwing up a webpage to spit out all the images in a folder would only take a few lines of code, then you could direct people to that page rather than trying to individually list 80+ pictures on the forum. It would also mean you didn't need to resize them.

Something to consider! I could send you the page you'd need, if you like :P

that sounds interesting.  the main issue that i have is they vary in width from between 233 pixels to 1700 pixels so i was facing the job of trying to resize them to 600 pixels wide before uploading them to our spare server and then getting the links on here.  Any advice for saving me a job is helpful and very very much appreciated!

I can see one of mine but the rest of the pics won't load for me which is a bit of a pain. Computer comes back tomorrow so I should have better luck then. Some nice shots of others. Nice to see mine has 11 likes. That makes me happy. Will a poll be put up here? Even with just a link to pictures? :)

We have had to rethink the judging method but yes i will get all of the pics up here.  i am chasing up missing ones at the moment but when i get a few hours i can get them up, hopefully tonight if i am not too tired :)

Just a question :

In the rules, was it wrote something about the picture's size? I think yes, but when I compare my picture with some other, mine seems very little (and above all with less visible details)

Maybe I didn't understand rules (d'ont forget I'm french ;))

the image you sent was 558 x 800 which is the one that i used.  if you want to send over a larger image that we can use when we get to judging that is fine!

Ya gotta realise that Hasslefree is two people. They've got to run a business, take care of three (possibly four?*) kids, sculpt new figures, and judge this comp. I'm sure they want to judge this comp, from what they've said they love the level of quality the competitors have brought! I feel they may have been surprised by that and the number of entries** - both which make judging it more difficult.

*gluttons for punishment!

**They've run sculpting comps before on this site. Judgement was delayed by real life then, too. But I don't remember anything like the variety or skill or number of entries that this comp has attracted. So Good On You, Competitors!

I forgot to say "thanks for this".  :)

Thanks for getting on the missing ones so fast Sally, mine are there now :D

Do you suppose these will be in store by christmas, perchance? It would be the perfect excuse to spend lots of money   :lalala:

nope, not a hope.  I am sending out the newsletter today with the details of where to send all of the entries and asking people to check the pics to make sure their entry is there so we can get them divided into categories and judging started.

there is another HF release in about a week/10 days .. i am sure i can persuade you to part with some cash then!...lol!
